I say if you are single be happy for those who are in a relationship. Don't do the sour grapes thing! Celebrate Valentine's Day for them. And be happy for those who are couples! If your parents didn't become a couple and fall in love, you wouldn't be here! More reason to say, go Valentine's Day! Let's hear it for Lovers!

Can't you appreciate this wish from Ann without calling it "sour grapes" and "crying in the sink"? If you can't be happy that others not in your position are wishing each other a happy day, then I feel kind of sorry for you. After all, it's not taking anything away from you, is it.

But hey, have a happy day anyway.

Oh it is too crying in the sink & sour grapes. Not an approachable look from what I can see.

Well... It's 8:58 in the morning over here and Valentines' Day is over now. I'm guessing that it should be close to an end to Canada as well...

I'd wish for you to keep being happy and in love for all days of your life.

As for some of us who may have unfortunate circumstances and couldn't celebrate yesterday as we wish, let us be.

Even more so because even if we were with those who we love, we could very well not celebrate that special day, cause it's NOT special. At least for me every day is a Valentine's day, when my wife's with me!

curra: I believe Dianne was talking to me, rather than Ann... but still...

It's inspirational to hear you feel this way. smile

I'm glad my thread generated some conversation. And ezpiano learned how to attach a picture.

One update: my son said 4 or 5 girls walked around high school yesterday with GREAT big teddy bears. I have to admit this makes me chuckle...thinking of teens and their responses to Valentine's Day.

Just a thought about love.

Did anybody see "A Beautiful Mind"? In it Graham Nash is the emotionally distant/disconnected sort. Still a woman falls in love with him and marries him. And later he becomes mentally ill and she sticks with him. Not sure how true the movie version is, but this is the sort of love I can admire. Perhaps no longer feeling the joy, but a certain devotion is there. That's beautiful.

As opposed to "Whee! We're in LOVE!"

I think you mean John Nash.
Graham Nash is the rocker who played (plays?) with Crosby and Stills.

I have made that mistake a few dozen times, and it always makes me chuckle to think of the two of them trading places.

And Ogden Nash is the esteemed poet, who wrote such classics as:

Quote
If you behold a panther crouch,
Be prepared to holler ouch.
Better yet, if called by a panther,
Don't anther.

and many more almost as good.

LOL! You're right!

Another update: I had lunch at a local Indian restaurant today, and the waitress told me that it was "crazy" last night (restaurant extremely busy). So lots of folks dining out on Valentine's Day. Good for them. My husband prefers not to celebrate that day. I'm getting used to it. And grateful that I could meet a friend for lunch today. smile

Adding Ogden Nash to the Nash mixup game makes me laugh outright.

(imagine the rock and roll lyrics!
Imagine the wall covered in bits of paper with odd rhymes
Imagine equations written with guitar chords and animal sketches!)

The ant has made himself illustrious
Through constant industry industrious.
So what?
Would you be calm and placid
If you were full of formic acid?

Probably we shouldn't forget Matthew 8:12,
