(Moved from the main Pianos forum)...

I recently acquired a 60's vintage Howard/Kawai 550 5'9 grand. The piano is in great shape... other than a buzz/resonance that is noticeable in the notes around middle A. I had a piano technician come over and he found the source of the vibration... a loose button screw on the bottom of the piano. He tightened it up, along with a number of other loose screws, and the buzz was gone.

Two weeks later, the buzz has returned. My piano tech is suggesting that he should apply a small amount of water-thin CA glue (super glue) at the edge of the bridge/soundboard. Does that sound like a good solution? Any other suggested cures would be welcome.

Aside from this issue, the piano is terrific shape for its age, and sounds really good.

Thanks,

--Phil

Buzzes can come from a variety of places, often not within the piano. If you know where the screw is, pushing against it while playing the note should stop the buzz if that is where it comes from. If it does not, you need to look someplace else.
