I will be needing the use of my electric setup over the next few days and thought it smart to set it up and just play it to make sure I hadn't forgot how to use and play the CP5.

I heard some crackling sounds and very noticeable distortion ... but I didn't panic. I got out some silicon spray (I couldn't find my contact spray) and applied it to all the jacks in the set up. Problem solved. I went back and did it a second time just for good measure.

In my previous house I even had to spray an outside electrical contact because even the 230 VAC couldn't make it to the device I plugged into it. Of course, the levels I'm dealing with in my rack case are significantly lower. smile

Just passing this on ...

Often I go through long intervals where my Nord Piano/CP5/whatever keyboard I have at the time wasn't being used. I rarely set up them up at home/studio to practice on.

I think there was one span of almost 6 weeks last year when I didn't turn on my CP5. Simply because between gigs being slow or when I did have something, it was on acoustic. Luckily no electronic malfunctions, but yes I remember having to re-acquaint myself with the CP5, since I was covering LH bass on this particular gig.

Since I sold my CP5 last May, my learning curve on it is totally gone... laugh At NAMM I was futzing around on one and was trying to set up a split LH bass sound again just compare it to my Nord, and for the life of me, I couldn't remember which buttons or the sequence of engaging them to get that LH bass split.

Again, I rarely have buzzes or electronic short-circuit problems....maybe I'm just lucky. But that old saying--"use it or lose it"--certainly applies to me with regard to getting around on some of these keyboards... grin
