Andy,
I certainly can't do any better than that. So I'll stick with a simple but earnest compliment: well done.
(Only after you mentioned it, D5 sounded a bit bright/harsh/phasing to me, but I didn't pick up a problem on the unison tuning as such.)
Oh, and many thanks for leaving yourself "hanging out to dry, naked, on the PW clothesline of tuner infamy"! ( I haven't even done that after three years...)

My last tuning has not returned my confirmation call. Forunately, she picked up the phone halfway through the mesage I was leaving her. Another appointment saved just in time!
Update: She upgraded her old piano with elbows breaking for a state of the art Whitney Spinet. Someone raised pitch last June from (250) cents to (200) cents flat, where I found it today. I raised it to (125) cents flat and gave her a treatment plan to get it up to 440.

Spent the day at a long-time customer's home. She has a wonderful Steinway "B" from 1912. It lived a good part of its life in a chicken coop. One of the most stable pianos I service. Always a fun visit...and today she made a Mexican soup (plus other goodies) for lunch...at which we were joined by another long-time customer. Lots of laughs. I love days like today!

What did I do today? Formed my first and second beckets ever. Followed quickly by an unscheduled third and fourth The piano gods clearly thought I needed the extra practice, and saw to it that the very first thing I did with my new tuning hammer was turn the wrong pin and break a string Was pretty pleased with how they turned out. Be gentle I've read the whole thread now, and really appreciate all the great stuff folks have shared over the years. Hopefully I'll someday have something a little more meaningful to contribute Rob

Would that be of your own recipe? are you sharing? I was at a Farmer’s Market and there was a fellow there selling all sorts of them. I bought a few and tried one this morning with the eggs. Mmmmmmm no sharing…

Wow, a traditional Afrikaner dish/recipe has made it all the way to Canada? I wouldn't have thought...
Hope you enjoyed it, Dan! (We just had some tonight, as chance would have it.)

Thanks Les. Yup, lesson learned. You can read it a hundred times, but there's nothing like screwing it up yourself to drive the lesson home Given how long it took me to get them to look ok, I've certainly got a whole new level of respect for those who do this work professionally. Rob

I have to go back and get some more. I want to see if he has got some Droëwors. Mark you would be surprised at where different cultures gastronomic dishes get to. The one I bought looks exactly like the photo in this entry of Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BoereworsThe darn thing was about a meter long…..really tasty….well, I mean, not the whole thingy…

Oh no.....not the yellow basket! Mmmmm yummy I love cheese. Looks good Isaac. I see a Roquefort ball there or maybe it is a bleu d'Auvergne? Just outside of Amsterdam there is a cheese market. Every kind of cheese you could think of. I am a foodie…

Hi Dan ! sure 95% of non pasteurized milk cheese ! (and that is just a "normal" market in some Paris suburbs)
After that, tuned, controled letoff, shaped hammers and voiced a nice Bechstein M (3:30 hours, I dont understand why it was so fast, probably the cheese !)

Dan, Thanks for posting. Very nice! It's always fun to hear musicians of that caliber play on pianos that we've tuned isn't it? Well, I guess fun and a little nerve racking for the piano tuner. :-)

A Mason & Hamlin BB and a Steinway O, side by side, both nearly 100 year old. The owner tried mine, and now seems interested in what I could do for hers, which have had extensive work done in the past, but are due for it again.
