Sign me up as well!!
There was hardly a day in Dec that I practiced, which is especially bad since I started lessons in Nov, but I made it a point to practice Jan 1-3 because of MOYD. I guess that means it is helping me already.

I've been spending so much time on my DP, that I may need an MOYD for everything else in my life.

I've been spending so much time on my DP, that I may need an MOYD for everything else in my life. Haha. I can totally relate to that! I wish I can just play piano and forget about everything else. i had to close the lid on my piano to stop a bit of its magnetic pull... Casinitaly: thanks! I needed that!

One question: the piano lesson count for MOYD? I will have the first one after Christmas holidays next week...
Thank you very much!

Alessandra I don't see why it would not count. The rules say "play/practice the piano" ...surely you are doing one or both of those during a lesson Have a wonderful time at your first lesson!!!!!!!!

Add my name to the list if you would be so kind. I had quite forgotten about signing up again for MOYD until I saw this thread; practicing everyday has become such a integral part of my routine. MOYD has rubbed off on my sister ,who plays the violin, is also determined to play everyday. That she picked up her violin at 10pm last night and played some of her assigned pieces, so she would not miss a day.

I will be Master of my Domain in 2013. Right now I can only use my right hand, but I just started in learning today. When I get to where two hands are used I will use my right hand to record the left hand part into my PX-350's recorder, then play the right hand part with it on play back until I can use my left hand again. So sign me up.

OK, I've been a lurker around the Piano Forums for a couple years. I'm an adult returning to piano study after decades of zero to sporadic playing. This fall I got a new and I think, wonderful teacher. I've been trying to decide about MOYD all week and today I can say I'm ready to commit.
It would be great if I could tag along a few other things--exercise, reading, getting outside. Life would be perfect then. Sigh!
Thank you, casinItaly, for managing this.

Hi ginko2 - My pleasure to help out on MOYD.
I know how inspiring a new / good teacher can be. They can really get you fired up!
Welcome to all the folks who are new to MOYD - it is great to see so many new participants along with the "oldies"!

Reporting in: My piano habit is so entrenched that my fingers ache to play if I'm away. We drove to Texas for a dog show and I took my roll up keyboard. It is not a satisfying substitute but it did help me stay connected to the music. Got home last night and the piano was delighted to see me (or is that I was delighted to see the piano). I missed Jan 4.

My first lesson of 2013 was yesterday--I'm hoping to get thru "Charlie Brown Christmas" in time for NEXT Christmas! 10 songs--so one per month. I've got three versions: "Easy Piano", Really Easy (but lots of page turns), and Not Easy play-along. The not easy will have to wait for another year!

Not sure if this is excused or an off the wagon, but I had to send my bench back last Wed. due to it being defective with a safety issue. I can't just use a chair because I have Ulnar nerve issues and if I am not at the proper position exactly it gives me fits. Musician's Friend says the replacement should ship between Mon-Wen. next week as they have received it.

As there is the ulnar issue, then my opinion is that it counts as excused. Let me know when you are back at the piano and I'll put the dates in.

guess i will sign up again this year. signed up last year but didn't make it. travel etc. however the main reason i fell off the wagon was because i tried taking lessons. it's crazy but when i took the lessons it just made me hate playing the piano. the bad part is i had a really good teacher - guess i'm just afraid of commitment (don't tell my wife). it took me about 4 months before i could even look at the piano again. even now, i can barely bring myself to play the pieces / exercises from the two months of lesson. to repeat: the teacher was great, i just have some weird thing about taking lessons. this have happened several times over the past 5 - 6 years.
so far this year have gotten about 2 hours per day; 3+ on weekends. gw
