It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
Done Griffin. Well, ( I thought to myself) Well, I wonder what tonight will bring in the big world? Will the news on the media be excellent and positive? Will there be stories of Hope, and endurance against adversity? Will the newsreader revel in the sheer joy and happiness of the stories?
I put this to Mrs R when I woke up, and she said "Don't be a tit all your life Rossy"
So, I chose to watch south park instead, a wise choice under the circumstances.

Well done Piano Joy, now that you have achieved "piccy status" there should be no stopping you!! You will not believe how many times folk have explained how to post pics and how to post videos, just over the course of this thread!!! We love it, because we know the sheer joy it brings when you first achieve it, it's like a present, it went right, it worked ,WOW, I did it!!! And we enjoy that as well as the pic or video!!

well I posted this just about everywhere I could think to post it.
This fair upset old rossy,
Sometimes, just sometimes, something moves me big time. This is one of those times, This dude has just played mendelssohn, on his laptop keyboard.. Literally.
with programs like abelton, you can "play" the actual keyboard of your laptop as a midi controller if you dont have a keyboard.
However, this is not the easyest thing in the world to do, and most folk just use it to write a few midi notes or chords..
This takes it to a whole new level, and moves me that anyone can defeat the adversity of not having even a cheap casio with piano keys to play....
Someone give this dude your old unused keyboard....

Okay I watched this movie the other night and am completely in love with the music, which I can't find anywhere. Its by Tim Delaughter. Okay I know this is a movie trailer but just listen to the piano behind it! This is adult only viewing trailer, btw.
I think this is a nice juxtaposition to the Mendelssohn vid.
Why can't people just enjoy music instead of getting so caught up in what kind of music it is, or how its made, or whatever other nonsense they think up to make sweeping rejections of certain types of music.
BeccaBb , its probably because its to new, give it a while and there will be piano tutorials on utubey!!

Hmm I didn't think it was that new actually. It's a very weird movie. Well I can only keep my fingers crossed and hope that the sheet music is put out eventually.
well he does have a myspace , and its there too, you could allways ask him on myspace, he seems an approachable dude.??

I've been always fascinated by old recordings, especially with those made with piano rolls. This technique doesn’t mean strictly a recording, but at least we can get an idea about how some composers played their own works. Listening to piano rolls is like a time travel.
Here we can listen to a piano roll recorded by Granados on his Spanish Dance No 2.
I'm just drafting a response to the UK government consultation on the 2010 drug strategy, and the Losing My Edge (spoken word, Gil Scott Heron stylee)) and the drugs thing caused me to remember this, Noah's Toilet by Coldcut, which has some pretty funny lyrics:
"He's a member, Wearing nothing but a peanut in the middle of December"
etc.

Becca, I've obtained music from "the artist/the composer" by dropping a quick line on twitter too. Especially productive when there is no commercial availability.

Wow, one of my favourite Spanish pieces. I'd always listened to Alicia de Larrocha's interpretation, since childhood. And she's fabulous. But I never realised there were any actual Granados recordings. This is I suppose what we are missing with many composers: the composer's interpretation of his/her own piece, how to turn the inevitably simplified symbolism of the sheet into the living experience.
