I'm just looking for something as minimal as possible so I can play piano with VST libraries and have low latency. Anyone use this?

Also, I'm slightly confused, does my laptop have to have a Soundcard to generate VST piano sounds? Does the sound have to go through the Soundcard or is that what anaudiointerface does?

The USB audio interface works as your soundcard externally. You can of course use your computer's soundcard with your VST. But the latency is terrible because you can only set the slider so low without getting clicks and pops. If you use a USB inteface that is all that is used, there is no sound routed through your internal soundcard. That way the latency is much better and your overall performance improves (fewer clicks or pops.)
