Yea, a few months ago this showed up. It might have been in the tuner/tech forum. I'm not sure.

#5 was pretty good, people on the internet giving advice have an agenda, yet we should believe that a salesperson paying their rent by selling Steinway pianos does not.

The overall theme of the myth list is to trust no one else and to come to the showroom so they can make the sale. If I lived in AZ I'd be looking for another dealer as I don't like companies that use fear mongering rather than being open and honest that sometimes a product they don't sell is the best match for a potential customer.

This one's near the bottom of the page...

One major university in the northwest paid a reputable rebuilder over $35,000 to rebuild their Steinway model D. When it was finished the soundboard, the strings, the pinblock, the hammers, the whippens were all non-Steinway. The only real Steinway parts on the piano are the iron plate and the name on the fallboard. The university has been so disappointed in the results they are now fundraising for a new Steinway.

Yeah, um, there's this school, and um, they like, bought a rebuilt piano but didn't like it, and um, now like they're gonna get a new one anyway... [/valleygirl accent]

It would have nothing, or almost nothing, to do with the parts. The finger should be pointed at the re-builder.

I guess the fact that Frank bought himself a different piano has raised some eyebrows?

As a "layperson", I've really enjoyed this forum, but am now wondering if you are all just figments of my imagination, or....Frank is an undiagnosed, untreated schizophrenic!

I'm surprised this is still on line.

Really, this seems extremely unprofessional. Why not also mention friends who play piano and give free advice, or teachers who give their two cents as well? Anyone who isn't them is not credible apparently. Not only that, but most of the advice given here always leads towards asking the OP if they've played the piano and which one do they like that best. I haven't seen any negative things said about Steinway or Essex except the price tag.

Yegads!

I just walked past the full-length mirror in our master bedroom and there was nothing there!

Should I be concerned?

Yes we did! And it went 8 pages. I'm surprised you two don't recall this, it wasn't that long ago.
