hi everyone. i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to remove scratches made on the long side of the fp7 keyboard body? i'm not sure what type of material the keyboard is made of, but it feels like some sort of metal. the scratches on this black keyboard body are white in nature and not deep (i wonder if it could be polished off somehow?). i had company over yesterday and one of them was sitting in a folding chair and the metal on the chair must have scratched the keyboard as she turned her chair...any advice would be much appreciated, as the keyboard is now quite unsightly! frown thanks!

I would try on of those Mr. Clean Magic Erase sponges. It works with just tiny bit of water and should remove the pigment that has rubbed in to the case in a scratch without harming the finish.

Several things - you don't state your location but here in Europe we have personal insurance. If I'm at someone's house and inadvertently do damage, a claim is filed and my company makes good on the damage. The neighbor's kid through rocks that landed on my retractable awning. When I closed the awning that rock made a hole in the fabric and their insurance paid for the damages. We got new fabric for the awning.

Since this is a metal scratch, I'd dismantle the keyboard and let a body shop buff it out. Those guys have the experience for this kind of work.

Another solution is to simply buy another side panel.

There are solutions for this ... and I bet if you do nothing the impact of this will lessen over time.

The beauty of buying used gear is that because it is probably already a little broken in it hurts less when something like this occurs.

One option not mentioned yet is to remove the piece and have it repainted or do it yourself.
