Followup from the thread "used SK5 vs. restored Steinway". I decided to get a new SK-5 instead. Delivered yesterday, to the second floor of my home, using a crane.....video to follow later. This is a 2012 concert series: slightly longer keys, bird's eye maple interior rim, copper colored plate (really striking!), "traditional legs", double casters. As regards how it plays...great sustain. Can't comment on how it sounds yet, as it needs tuning. Action will get some getting used to. Some photos below. Lake view out the window...

Would love to own a shigeru one day. Are you still getting an MPA to tweak the piano since you bought it used?

Cool.. Guess it would be hard to find a used 2012 sk-5 smile.. The MPA visit will probably be an exciting thing to witness.

Gorgeous!
Is that the new model with the longer keys and burled inner rim? Looks like it.
Congrats on an awesome piano.
I've had mine for almost 4 years now and the sound continues to mature beautifully.
Mine's only an SK2 and I couldn't be happier.

Yes, a little loud, but open floorplan, so there is some dissemination. We have a rug to place underneath, but haven't tried with and without yet. Lots of things to tinker with...

Congrats on getting such a gorgeous piano! I am so jealous! I am sure once you get it tuned in the near future you'll be loving it and your dogs will be wondering why you're not giving them as much attention any more, hehe.

That is a beautiful piano. If I were looking to buy a new grand piano, Shigeru would be on my "must try" list.

Excellent choice. Enjoy!

Nice! I really like the turtle behind the piano.

Congrats! I've had my SK6 for a little over two months. It's an amazing piano and I'm looking forward to the MPA visit where I've heard it will turn it from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

Enjoy!

Very nice! Wow...thanks for the photos. It put's things in perspective when I see these photos with relation to room size to accommodate such a piano. Even if I could afford such a piano, don't think it'll fit in my old home built in the 1930s wink

The turtle hanging on the wall looks like something from Wyland Galleries thumb

Thanks for posting pics, looks nice! Looking forward for your follow-up on how it sounds (as compared to Steinway?) :p
