The writer says God will punish him for cancelling a concert five minutes before walking out on the stage. God isn't needed in this cash to punish Gavrilov, if this story about him is true. Concert hall managers will punish him by not running the risk of hiring him, especially since this seems not to be the first time he has done this.

The Lyric Opera shocked the music world when it announced it would no longer hire Luciano Pavarotti because of his constant cancellations - and these were cancellations well in advance of the event, and probably for ill health. Other opera companies followed suit. Gavrilov is hardly of the star power of a Pavarotti, and has very little room to maneuver if his reputation is sullied by these cancellations.

This is turning into quite an interesting story. Pianist Alexander Ghindin was in the audience, and when they announced that Gavrilov was "ill," Ghendin offered to fill in and played the Rach 3 with no rehearsal--now, that's a trooper! Gavrilov has responded on his Face Book page with with hilarious hyperbole.
