It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
Oh noes, two hours of figured bass last night. My head hurts. I found some more stuff on the interweb today, which may help, but...
While trying to track down different keyboard interpretations (figured bass and realised versions) of Purcell: Dido's Lament (When I am laid...), I came across this chappie:
I'm seeing a man and hearing 'a woman' (male soprano).

Frightening Eglantine, are you sure that wasnt a link to a secret castrato? I could only manage about thirty seconds before it all became to much!!

Rossy, Nick Davies and David Leigh (investigative journalists - Nick broke the NOTW-wiping-dead-girl's-phone-messages saga) always say: 'Think of the craziest thing these people could be doing, and then go and find the evidence to prove it, and invariably you can' or something like that.

Good afternoon everyone! I'm taking a break from organizing my office. I'm also dropping by with a short music offering that you can relax to anytime. I'll have more time to post this weekend, however.
I'll check in again later when I have a little more time to visit. In the meantime, relax to this!
SUPER DISLIKE!!! I'm still a child to like and appreciate these things (and I wanna remain as a child forever to hate these things). Forgive me and my words Rossy, but as a child I dare to insist you to predict something better, for example, you and all the smokers in the world will stop smoking very soon I know this isn't good for you, but believe me, this is indeed necessary for this world. Because today's world really needs some really good people like you to live longer
I like the monkees, Eglantine. I never knew them. They remind me of Charlie Chaplin The "Medicine Tree" is an amazing composition, Griffin. I always like this kind of relaxing music. Excellent post, Recaredo. These musics goes deep into my heart! I usually listen to Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Liszt etc. But I think from now on I've to concentrate more on Vivaldi.
I recently came across the following opera by Mozart, and I was just spell-bound with the soprano, "The Magical Flute"!
Wow excellent posts folks, Eglantine, I gues you are correct about the NOTW!! I think I have heard that quote from a while back was it?
Music? what music to post today? Hmmmmm.
Fancy a dance? well if you try this one, you may find your legs wont work properly for a couple of weeks afterwards. Mine didn't.

Okay Rupak, I will try a better prediction!! lol. I predict a fiasco at the London olympics. maybe more than one fiasco. I predicted a while back that only the very rich would get tickets. I have not met a single person that has a ticket so far. Saying that, I havent met a single person that wants a ticket.
I predict the opening ceremony to be totally embarressing and pathetic compared to Chinas.
As an aside, Engelbert Humperdink is to represent britain for the next eurovision song contest. I predict we will lose in a more embarressing fashion than usual.
There you go dudes and dudettes, Rossys predictions of the week.

Rossy, one of our teachers forced us to learn and sing that song in our (elementary) Russian class in my first or second year of secondary school. Bad memories.
Love the Vivaldi, Recaredo... Perhaps people focus too much of Vivaldi's most famous works? (though I suppose that happens with many composers).
Today I'm mainly sanding, painting, and trying to get to grips with figured bass realisation at the keyboard. Here's a little video that looks helpful (although he's doing it on the whiteboard, rather than at the keyboard).
You are completely right about the Olympics, Rossy. I live in London, and I don't know anyone with tickets. This is just some jamboree for 'dignitaries' and fat-cats etc. They're even taking over our roads (not allowing ordinary people to drive their cars on them).

wow Eglantine, allthough figured bass looks like a lot of head work, it also looks very interesting. You are correct, the guy should have used a keyboard as well as the whiteboard.
Oh, I saw a programme about the olympic tickets and a scandel. The scandel is this, there is a guy in the states, lives in the middle of nowhere, he was investigated over other sporting events, the companay that he runs is well suspect, I believe he was involved in another olympic ticket scandel. Anyways, the powers that be over here in the UK, for some totally unexplained reason, deemed him and his companay fit to distribute the tickets...
Now, if I was very very cynical, I would say, (because of his location in the sticks in the states.)that because he has most of the tickets ( or did have) it will be much easier for USA citiznes to get a hold of the tickets, than if the tickets were being sold over here?
So, why would our powers want to ensure many USA citizens are at the olympics?
A cycnical person might suggest that should any "outrage" of any kind happen, ( and if the powers that be are not thinking that may be possible, why the 8,000 troups on the street + thousands of extra cops) If USA citizens are involved in any sort of "outrage" that will of course allow both our government and the USA government to "respond" to said outrage "legitamately"
If that happens to be something to do with IRAN in any way, Old Rossy aint going to believe it at all.

Good Saturday everyone! I had planned to post earlier. However, I had way too much happening. Anyways, here is some music from Sweet Honey in the Rock. "Ain't Nobody Gonna Turn Me Around" was a major protest song of the Civil Rights movement in the U.S. during the 1950s and 1960s.
I'm seeing a man and hearing 'a woman' (male soprano).
I honestly thought he was lip-syncing but apparently this guy is a genuine phenomenon.
According to his wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radu_Marian) "Marian is an "endocrinological castrato" or "natural castrato".[2] A natural castrato is a singer who never went through puberty and so kept his "unbroken" voice intact."
Although if he never went through puberty why does he have facial hair?
Polyphasic, I have seen many performances by Tom Jones BY DEFAULT.. I must add, my mam used to watch his show every saturday night here in the UK. Women who attended his live shows used to throw their knickers onto stage, I jest not, it was a well known and common occurance. What he did with these I do not know, no one ever said.
The natural castrato with facial hair question is a very good question indeed, but I personally am unable to ponder it for too long as it sorts of creeps me out a lot.
I Didnt manage to do the DID this week due to external influences, Hopefully this will be rectified next Sunday. I will be posting some music though a little later, probably after Grifffins Sunday posts.
