Hi

I recently purchased a second hand Kawai MP4 for practising piano, scales, arpeggios...

with the first piano sound bank the concert grand at the 3rd octave the Ab A and A# keys produce a very hard clanking sound

when i transposed by 12 semitone the weird sound transposed also.

so it's not a mechanical problem.

with the piano's sound banks i find that from the middle C to the left end right there is no coherence of the colour of the piano sound.

and when i transposed by 12 semitone same thing.

someone know if there any solution ?
is this kawai MP4 character ?
Kawai MP4 OS update can fix it ?

Please Help,

Cheers

ztov, I would recommend using the 'Reset All' function in the 'System' menu to ensure that the piano is reset to the factory default.

If this does not resolve the issue, it's possible that there is a hardware issue, although it's difficult to tell from your description alone. Would you be able to post an audio recording of the problematic notes?

A software update for the MP4 is available from the following URL:
http://kawai.de/downloads_en.htm

However, the upgrade procedure is rather time consuming, and can fail if the correct MIDI playback software is not used. Furthermore, there's no guarantee that updating the system software will resolve the issue.

Kind regards,
James

Hello James,

the reset all did not resolved.
I would-like to post a small mp3, I didn't find how to do that in forum.

I can send it to you by e-mail

Thank you and have a good day

Hello ztov, please upload the recording to a free file sharing site, such as Box.net etc.

Thank you for posting the clips.

However, to be honest, I'm not sure I can hear the problem - it sounds like a 2005-era Kawai digital piano.

Perhaps you could record other notes - not just those which you believe to be problematic - to allow an easier comparison. Just play a chromatic scale over 2-3 octaves. If there is an issue, it should be easy to spot.

Cheers,
James

Do you mean the slightly metallic attack? That's what my Kawaii MP8 sounds like, but only at very high velocity. What velocity are these samples?
