Hi,

so glad I found this forum. I'm excited to learn what i can from all you seasoned pianists.

just a little background, if you're interested:

I was an oboe performance major way back when (1995-1998) until i decided i didn't want to (try) to play oboe for a living. (Incidentally, i took one semester of beginning piano which was required, then I started another semester of piano lessons but i decided it wasn't the right time to do that, so i dropped it early on).

I switched my major eventually getting a degree in literature. but i still felt that itch to play so i bought a guitar and have played for about 10 years, more or less.

one day, i listened to the Waldstein Sonata and melted into my seat. At that point, i realized: the piano beckons.

So i'm now starting lessons. i hope to one day...well i'll probably never be able to play the Waldstein Sonata, but one can hope....

peace to you all,
Rider of Rohan

hello and welcome to PW. Are you looking to pass the exams or just want to play on?

I think it would only take somebody with your background a few particularly devoted years to the instrument to be able to play Beethoven's Waldstein at a respectable level. And what's more is by that time, I'm certain you'll have discovered other gems you'll want to learn further on as well! Welcome and good luck to you.
