#1999569 - 12/14/12 08:45 PM Do the Casio PX-150 and PX-350 have a quieter action?

I liked my PX-330 a lot, and I like my CDP-120 also, but while they both have nicely responsive actions, they are, IMO, excessively noisy, the CDP being somewhat the worse of the two.

My initial impression of the newer Casio's is that they're quieter. So, do these new PX's have a redesigned action, or just a different key surface? Do both the PX-150/350 have the identical action and piano sound? And can anyone comment on whether or not keybed noise has been improved?

Completely different action.

Same action. Same main piano sound, but 350 has more variations. The 350 also has better quality speakers, so the same sound sounds better. ;-)

Thanks for the reply, Scott.

With a completely new action I'm daring to hope that the noise issues will be resolved. The older actions were terrific otherwise.

I just A/B-ed my CDP-120 today against my Studiologic VMK-188plus with it's Fatar TP40GH action. The key surface is way better on the VMK, and the cushioning at the bottom of key travel is better, kinder to your fingers. The whole action of the VMK was quieter by far. BUT as far as overall responsiveness and ease of reaching higher velocities, the Casio won! I was pretty surprised.

There was somebody on here who bought a CDP120.

He opened it up and put shims in the hammer pivot points or something. Unfortunately he took no pictures.

Oh wait it was you Michael!

Seriously you should publish a guide to shimming the hammers as my CDP is annoying me a great deal!
