A question for all the real gurus in this forum.

Are DP with no real MIDI working with VST,
for example Yamaha P-105 or casio PX-150 do not have real MIDI, can they still be used with VST.
If YES, is there any real advantage to MIDI vs USB to Host

thanks!

USB TO HOST does work as a midi connection, yes. I think the only advantage of the original midi connectors is they'll connect to all midi instruments and devices going back to around 1982. But USB to host is fine for VST and other computing facilities.

Yes, they work with MIDI over USB.

For that particular application, there is essentially no difference, once you have the right cabling.

However, if you ever want to connect the keyboard to some other MIDI device that is not a computer (i.e. a sound module, a MIDI pedal, another keyboard), then you'd want the standard MIDI connections.

Also, as has been mentioned, standard MIDI works with 30 years of other gear, and will probably work for the next 30 years. USB is the interface flavor of the day. By ten year from now, USB ports could be as scarce as parallel, serial, and SCSI ports are today.

Yeah, for our purposes, USB-MIDI is fine. Real MIDI cables can go farther, I believe, and work with older gear. In some cases USB-MIDI apparently introduces some latency as well (though it's very small compared to other sources of latency). Small issues. I guess I'm not as pessimistic about the future of USB as many members of this forum. Though we all pretty much agree that it's USB-MIDI is fine for normal use.
