Hello,

I recently purchased the Synthogy American Concert D and was wondering if anyone had any advice on the best way to set it up.

Right now, I have my electric piano (Roland HP203) connected directly to my computer via the USB cable. I play Ivory on my computer through Cantabile. I then have a cable connected to the headphone jack of my computer to a Sony stereo receiver, which is then connected to a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers.

Is this the best way to play Ivory? For example, I also have a Focusrite Scarlett audio interface. Would incorporating the audio interface somehow lead to a better sound?

Any information / advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

It's quite possible that the Focusrite would improve the sound. Laptop sound cards are not the best.

Are you getting good (low) latency?
If not the Focusrite might help.
But whether you use that, or the internal sound card, you should run an ASIO to reduce latency. Do you have it?

Hi MacMacMac - thanks for the reply. Yes, I am running ASIO and the latency is good (low).

It sounds pretty good right now, but was just wondering if there was a way to make it sound even better.

Thanks!

I added an external sound card because I could not get low latency from the internal one.

But if your latency is low and the sound is good ... then you're done!

For how long were you playing the HP203 for its "native" sounds before moving to computer-based Synthogy? The reason I ask is that I looked at an HP203 when I was piano shopping four years ago.

I played the HP203 for about 3 years before moving to Ivory. The Roland does sound great on its own, but I find the sound of Ivory much smoother.
