Hi guys,

I have a CP 33 which I am trying to connect to a Mac Pro. I had the Galaxy Vintage D software installed and tried to connect to the Mac a few times with all the the cables etc. Still, the computer did not recognize the keyboard and I was not able to generate a sound with the software. Can you please direct me to a previous post explaining all the basic steps, just to make sure I did not miss anything, if possible? Anyone else had similar issues, please post.

Thank you!

Which cable(s) were you using to connect the CP33 to your Mac?

Did you install the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver? No driver. no keyboard.

If you are using MIDI cable, try to swap MIDI IN and MIDI OUT. I got almost crazy until I realized it was marked wrong on my cable.

Also be sure the software is configured to listen to the right MIDI channel. I had a hard time with this my first time. You can figure Vintage D to listen to "omni", which is all the channels.

Come to think of it, can you let us know exactly what you did to connect the keyboard and how you know it's not detected? I don't mean to patronize too much but when you do this the first time it's really easy to think there's a complex problem when the problem is very simple.

Well, you must know if you downloaded and then installed the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver. If you didn't, you get nothing because the Mac won't see the CP33 MIDI signals.

Does anyone read manuals anymore?

The instructions are there, quite explicitly. For the CP33, it's on page 44.

Mac3,

Unfortunately my CP 33 came without the manual. I just found the manual online and will follow those directions. Thanks.
