OP Lar Junior Member L Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 1 Scottsdale, AZ	I'm sure this is not a new question, because I read some of the past; but this new aspect: has anyone ever used the Microsoft LifeCam. The video is great, the audio sucks! Has anyone used mics over the strings of a grand piano? Do you plug the "Good" mics into the LifeCam itself?

But as far as I can see from the specs on the Microsoft site, all the models have onboard mics and there isn't any external mic connector. The most expensive LifeCam studio model has a omnidirectional mic with a frequency range of 100 Hz - 18000 Hz. Which is not optimum for the whole piano frequency range. Other models have worse mics as the price decreases. I wouldn't recommend one of these for satisfactory piano recordings. PiaTune Professional Tuning App
