anyone record anything with the Galaxy Giant yet ? thoughts on the tone? Does it sound like a high end piano or just cool b/c of the resonance and stuff ?

Yeah, I'd kind of like to hear it. Maybe that thread where we were rendering that chopin piece with a ton of VST's.

[the thread]

I wish it was indexed so we could just jump to the reader from each piano. I also don't feel like I've gotten a good enough feel for Ivory American D yet.

I have the Giant. If you have a MIDI file, I can play it through Giant and save a recording.

from this thread
http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1864532/1.html

or if anyone had something Pop that they could try. I'm guessing this piano is going to lean more toward Pop ?

thank you kindly

Here you go :-)

One is rendered using the Giant Basic patch.
The other, using Concert Hall patch.

Rob, those sound great. It is a bit of a metallic sound, but it certainly is pleasing and will suit several 'moods' one would like to achieve.

Even Chopin sounds fantastic, even though the more 'mellow' sounds are more traditional. Great sound indeed.

Rafa.

There are several other presets, and all can be tweaked in numerous ways, to give pretty much any tone you want.

But for me, one of the best things about The Giant, is it's playability. It's the closest to Pianoteq, that I have tried.

Love those meaty bass notes! Btw, when the string length parameter is increased in Pianoteq, the sound of the bass notes is actually kind of similar to The Giant, IMHO.

Hi guys, I found this link - http://www.klavins-pianos.com/index_en.htm

when you open the page click on "The GIANT" on the left and then you will see a ton of reviews and samples of the sound

I especially like the playing on this page to give a good feel for the sound

It can do both types, and very well. Here is the preset called "Dreamland":
