Hi Piano Forum, I have patiently waited for 4 weeks for my Petrof V to “settle in” and now its time to call a technician for tuning. I’m wondering if someone from the forum can recommend a technician in the greater Seattle who has experience with European piano. Or does it matter for the tech if he/she is familiar with European Piano? Thank you.

There are a lot of good technicians in the Seattle area. Normally for a good technician will have what it takes to properly prep your Petrof. But there is no harm in asking about their experience, of course. How to find a piano technician is a frequently asked question. A summary of answers is found here:

Does Darrell work on anyone's piano? I was guessing he was too busy servicing the pianos he sold, but I never really asked.

Darrell Fandrich was one of the techs who worked on the Grotrian in Perri Knize's Grand Obsession.

Maybe try giving a call? First hand information always beats second hand information (formerly also known as "the horse's mouth...") smile Contact info at www.fandrich.com

We have one of his pianos, and only live about 25 minutes from him, and we still have to wait a lot and sometimes have his wife come to tune for us, but she doesn't do voicing. (She is the one who does the work on the actions for their pianos, so if that is what you need she can probably get to you pretty quickly.) Some of the time Darrel is very busy and also he has been having some health problems on and off that put him behind schedule.

Not sure you have already found a good technician. I heard from our piano teacher that Tynis Promet is one of the top in Seattle. Here's his website:
