Here's one more before I get to work, and what a powerhouse of artists it is! B.B. King sharing the stage with Gladys Knight, and Chaka Kahn! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Thanks a lot Richard for another wonderful Sunday Classical gift! I enjoyed them thoroughly. I never listened to Hérold and Gerald Finzi's works until now. Finzi's nocturne is pushing me to listen to more of his works smile
Andreas Scholl's falsetto is really interesting. I only heard about Radu Marian who can do this kind of thing, but that is his "normal" voice. It's quite amazing how he manages to produce such natural sounding soprano using falsetto!

Griffin, thanks so much for listening and appreciating my ICM posts smile Also best wishes for your publication as well as Gymnopedie 1 (I'm more interested in the latter though laugh ).

You should ask how many Songs Without Words (SWW) Mendelssohn composed smile I could find recordings of only 58 SWW. Anyway, I think still you've a valid point to ask:

Right Okay, dont forget I have got opus 38 no.2 claimed!!

Lets stick with the associated board of the royal schools of music book:

I own this book, it lists 48 under the heading "Lieder ohne worte " ( songs without words)

There is also much ramble and talk about pedal marks etc at the front of the book, I havent read it all yet it may well say why 48.

If this is doable it could actually be some sort of record, at least an international online one and may well qualify as such, No one I have talked to yet has said otherwise..

Just think an international online recital here at pianoworld of all the songs without words from beginner pianists through more advanced in one place...

Worth a shot!!

Right here is the 48, each "Opus" contains six pieces...

If anyone has difficulty finding where their "chosen piece is" just ask.

Also, it may help folk choose a piece.

For any annotation help or notes on the score, I do have the Book with all the scores in.

Hi folks!

First I wanted to thank everyone for last postings, Saturday and Sunday’s ones included of course. They all are splendid.

And speaking of the next themed recital, I’d like to pick Op 19 nº 6. This piece is above my level, I’ve read that is within grade 6, but I love this song.

I didn’t want to be too brave either. What is the deadline for Mendelssohn’s recital?

Actually, if it gets postponed til Aprilish then I might try to swing 30-6. I can't do a new one for February - I give people alcohol for a living and we have Superbowl AND Mardi Gras. I'll be kinda busy grin

I like the part where he kicked her not out of malice, it was just so he could get the last word.

Angry drinker poured half a pint of ale over 'grizzling' toddler because the noise disturbed his lunch

By Rob Preece

PUBLISHED: 15:16 EST, 15 October 2012 | UPDATED: 01:47 EST, 16 October 2012

A grandfather poured beer over a crying toddler in a pub because the noise ruined his lunch plans, a court heard today.

Danny Polak, 64, lost his temper when 15-month-old Finlay White started making 'grizzling' sounds in the Ernehale pub in Arnold, Nottinghamshire.

He soaked the toddler in ale and then kicked the boy's mother, Rachel Atkin, in the backside when she went to confront him.

Polak was fined £355 and ordered to pay £50 in compensation when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court and admitted two counts of assault.

The hearing was told that Miss Atkin had gone to the pub with Finlay and her sister-in-law, Rebecca White, on the afternoon of June 11 this year after a morning at a soft play centre.

After they took seats at a table next to Polak and his wife, Miss Atkin went to order food at the bar, leaving Miss White to look after Finlay.

Catherine Picardo, prosecuting, said: 'It was then that Finlay started to whine as though he was missing his mother.

'The defendant, with a half-full pint in his hand, approached the table and poured it over the baby’s head, which caused him to scream.'

Ms Picardo told the court that, when confronted by Miss Atkin, Polak told the mother: 'You shouldn’t bring kids in a pub.'

Miss Atkin responded by throwing her own drink at Polak and said: 'See how you like it.'

The court heard that Miss Atkin then turned her back on Polak, who kicked her and fled.

Miss Picardo said: 'It is quite shocking behaviour as it involved a 15-month old child.

'It took place in a family pub where children are entitled to be.'

Maria Bines, defending, said: 'He was having a quite drink with his wife. He thought rather than go to the bar, the mother should have stayed to attend her son.

'He threw the beer in the general direction of the table where the females were sitting.

'He accepts that beer went over the baby and that his actions were reckless.

'He accepts he kicked her in the bottom. It wasn’t done in malice, it was just so he could have the last word.

'He accepts that what he did was wrong. He is not proud of what he has done, and accepts that it will have to be punished.'

Polak, of Sherwood, Nottingham, told police that he had been angry because the noisy child had forced him and his wife to abandon plans to have lunch at the pub, which they only did once a month.

Speaking shortly after the incident, Miss Atkin said: 'I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was so shocked.

'I just stood there for a second and then I ran up to his table and shouted at him.

'I could hear my son crying when I was at the bar and my friend said he’d been shouting about it before he poured the drink over my son.

'But it’s no excuse to pour a drink on him, it just made him cry even more.
'It’s just scary to think someone would do that to a baby that is crying.'
