Hi everybody.

Before going to the bed, I thought of posting the famous Devil's Trill Sonata, I don’t know why.

The story of this sonata is very interesting. There is nothing better than the own words of Tartitni to tell this story:

"One night, in the year 1713 I dreamed I had made a pact with the devil for my soul. Everything went as I wished: my new servant anticipated my every desire. Among other things, I gave him my violin to see if he could play. How great was my astonishment on hearing a sonata so wonderful and so beautiful, played with such great art and intelligence, as I had never even conceived in my boldest flights of fantasy. I felt enraptured, transported, enchanted: my breath failed me, and - I awoke. I immediately grasped my violin in order to retain, in part at least, the impression of my dream. In vain! The music which I at this time composed is indeed the best that I ever wrote, and I still call it the "Devil's Trill", but the difference between it and that which so moved me is so great that I would have destroyed my instrument and have said farewell to music forever if it had been possible for me to live without the enjoyment it affords me." (from Wikipedia)

Nevertheless, I hope not to dream with the devil this night laugh

Your Piano teacher has good taste AimeeO, I totally agree with her, this is a good example of a Baldwin Piano.

Wow Recaredo, are you sure you want to think of such things JUST before going to bed? Keep a tape recorder and a pen and notepaper by your bed in case you have any "visits" then you can record the music for later.
sleep well, excellent posting, lovely violin.

Good evening everyone!!

Rossy, thanks for your kind reminders to take care of myself. We are both on the same page of that issue. Yes, I am a hard working guy. However, I've learned to take care of myself when I become ill, and my body is telling me to get the he** to bed and just rest.

I'm so glad you gave me yet another reminder (which I did read before I went to the office). I stuck to my plan. I put in three hours which were productive. And the, I came home, had some soup, and took some more naps. I'm rather proud of myself!! grin

Aimee, your earlier warnings also was a good reinforcement in making the decisions I have taken. Anyway, just thought I'd check in to say hi, and see how things are. I'll be around for a while. Not sure if I'll post, however.

Good news, your health has to come first no matter what!

I found out something tonight, there was a programme on the telly about music halls, and guess what the one of the dirtiest music hall songs ever written was called?

The (piano) tuners opportunity. doesnt sound to bad , but I assure you it was! lol.

Wow, I see we posted at about the same time, yet managed to respond appropriately to each other's post! Amazing! Me and the other half have decided not to cook. I'm running a short errand nearby for some healthy carry out food! I'll be back shortly!

Enjoy your food Griffin, I am off to bed now, maybe Recaredos posting of the devils trill sonata will give me good musical dreams, I hope so. Sometimes, when I am in bed trying to get to sleep, that is when I get musical ideas. Its like the muses say " dont let him get to sleep or he will be awake all the next day, give him some ideas instead, so he has to get up and either work them out at the keyboard or write them down, by the time he is finished it will be dawn, and he will sleep most of the day"

which is ok except when I have to do important stuff during the day. where we live there are no 24/7 shops, what shops there are shut at five and open at nine in the morning except for a garage that shuts at ten at night, but that is really expensive.

anyways, life in a small welsh village is allways strange for english refugees.lol

Later, sleep well folks...

Hi Recaredo. I've just listened to the first movement of your post. It's beautiful. I can't wait to listen to the rest of it. Right now, it's time for bed. Good night all.

Hi! I’m glad to see you all liked Tartini’s sonata. I’ll post more about this fantastic composer, who is a little overlooked.

Aimee, I loved your post. It sounds like you have a very good teacher.

Hi!

Here we can listen to the violin concerto in D minor D45. It’s one of my favourites.

I just went to their website, thanks so much. I saw the dramatisation of titus groan on the telly a while back, but prefer to lay back with my eyes shut and have someone read me the story, its sort of better, but I cannot explain why!!!
This is something that is so good to look forward to..excellent..
I hope kids knocking at my door demanding money with menaces does not spoil or interupt these programms.

I know what you mean, Rossy. You hear the words and there's room for imagination. You see the thing on telly and there's little room for the imagination. That's why I love radio.

I shall be stoking the wood-burner with logs, putting out the candles, and switching off the lights. And locking the doors, of course!

I so long to be near a woodburner.... why , you live in wales i hear you ask??
well, yes, and allthough i have had an arga and a woodburner in a coach, in the horrid house I live in at the moment there are no fireplaces !! Can you imagine it, no fireplaces in a house in wales?

You may have guessed by now that the particular idiot who built them was ...... an english builder.
No idea of what is of primary importance ina house in wales... in fact in any house.

I believe a fire ( by that I mean a real fire) is as important as food and sleep. And to get round a real fire with music and maybe the odd drink is more therapeutic than most things.

Is the term "Accidental" in your title a kind of musical pun? I ask since your piece strikes me as having a wonderfully harmonic minor sound (i.e. plenty of accidentals) - it would be interesting to hear what you could do with it if you threw in some added major key modulations (or better yet, 12-tone modulations), and that Doll is great. Just curious do those "boingy" sounds come from a Zappa influence by chance?
