I quickly scanned the 3 pages of the thread on decibels of pianos. Can someone recommend a monitor that doesn't cost very much?

It is sorta silly to me, but you can get an ap for your smart-phone to measure the SPL.

I am old-fashioned. I don't have a smart-phone.

Meter $24.32, but is a waste of money at any price. http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Digital-...73&sr=8-1&keywords=decibel+meter

I got a digital SPL meter at Radioshack for 50 bucks (I think). For some reason, I don't see it on their website, but you might want to check out your local store. It seems to work well enough for my purposes. It's also useful for home theater/stereo setup if you're into that sort of thing.
