Which DP is better the Roland xv 88 or the yamaha p95. Both are on eBay, right now the Roland is cheaper.

Well the xv-88 is a pro workstation keyboard version of the XV-3080 module .... the p-95 is Yamaha cheapest recent dp... two completely different things.

Just for piano? The P95.

The Roland is a far more flexible, and powerful board - despite being over ten years old.

However, as Scott notes, if you're just after a board for piano playing, perhaps the P95 would be the better choice.

Cheers,
James

What I really want to know is will the Roland be just as adequate as the yamaha at piano playing but will also come with the benefit of having a workstation; or is the yamaha really better for piano playing b/c then I think that would be the best option since that would be my main focus currently since I'm only a beginner.

If you're a beginner, and primarily interested in learning the piano, I would recommend opting for the no-thrills Yamaha.

Best of luck!

James

Alright, thanks James, I suppose the yamaha would better suit my needs right now.

I posted a review of the xv88 as I am not familiar with it, but I think the stronger points of the p95 is that it is focused soley on piano/piano sounds and has graded keys and built in speakers
