Obviously your spammer thought you were selling one of these.

This reminds me of the time when I was selling my Yamaha U2. I got a phonecall from a person who posed the strangest questions, which I tried to answer to the best of my knowledge. After some minutes, I finally realized he was answering an ad about a Yamaha motorbike, and barely knew what a piano was.

That's a good one, Curry. smile

When I've advertized a piano for sale I've received a few of those... you can usually tell pretty easily, as in your case. When they say things like "I am interested in your item"... on yea, exactly what item would that be? smile

Scammers are everywhere...

I love responses that say "I am kindly asking your best price, my son has just graduated from university, I cannot stop by or call because I'm far away and we are prohibited from phone calls here" WTF? Yeah, I'll give you my PayPal info! HAH!!

If you search the archives here, you will find lots of threads about my infamous “Tokai” grand piano. In fact, if you Google “Tokai”, chances are, most hits will be here on PW. smile

Anyway, in keeping with the subject matter of this thread, when I got ready to sell the Tokai, I did list it for auction on eBay. I did get a few offers, but it also “sold” on eBay.

Not long after it sold, I got an email from the buyer (who turned out to be bogus) and wanted my PayPal user name and password, so he could send me the payment. Of course, I knew that is now how things worked and had my suspicions. Later that same day, I got an email from eBay saying the buyer was not an eBay member in good standing and to beware. Huh??

Anyway, it took about a month for eBay to stop sending me emails about the fees for the bogus sale, even though I had relisted the piano. I finally gave up on eBay and sold it through an ad on Craigslist.

Seller beware… smile

Which reminds me of the man who was trying to sell a Mercury Couger only to find the newspaper had placed his ad under "Pets."

Slow down and do it right.
