As the token Atheist here I feel compelled to point out that you should never presume an uncaused cause. wink Beyond that I have no logical answers for you Rossy, except to say that when the sheer philosophical weight of reality sets upon me hardest, the best place to take refuge from gaping void it produces is within the enjoyment of the simpler things in life: Backgammon, friends, music, etc. I do wish your mom the best.

I wasn't sure what to post but this always cheers me up, so maybe its appropriate.

Rossy - hang tough and keep the faith - I couldn't eat much for a while either - all I wanted to do was drink ginger ale, which seemed to help relieve the nausea - your mom (mam) will be fine in a short time I'm sure...

Who would have thought that vacant and empty chairs could be the common thread between such divergently beautiful songs:

From Ken Burn's "The Civil War" Soundtrack with Country Music star Kathy Mattea on vocal:

From "Les Miserables" Michael Ball as Marius sings of his fallen comrades who used to meet and plan revolution in the local pub:

Keep the faith, Rossy. Some people (myself included) are very sensitive to anesthesia. I was nauseous for days after even simple surgery.

Best of luck to both of you!

OMG! where is everyone? I don't know what's going off, but something isn't right! Firstly I get pulled away from RST by the "Stuff", (My other half got cancer, was real bad for a long time) then I return after ages, then our dog dies of cancer, only 11yrs old, then Rossy gets the bad "stuff" with his mam, and still, no-one in sight.

Rossy's friend's surely need to pop in and keep the good things goin!

I had foot surgery a few years ago. My doctor told me that the local anesthesia should wear off in a few hours. He said that if I were like his older patients, it would have lasted 3-4 days. If your metabolism is slow, it will stay in your system much longer.

Ok who watched the closing ceremonies of the Olympics? I actually liked the Russell Brand thing with I am the Walrus. They also had my Seu Jorge in a flashy white sequin suit singing in the Brazil Preview!

Ok so I saw something on TV about a classical soundtrack to that 50 Shades of Grey book. Why is that necessary? And why can't they leave Rachmaninoff out of it? And Debussy?

Anyway. I like this song, even though I don't know what it means.

I'm here, Wayne! Just to keep the ball rolling. I was listening to Ry Cooder's "Bop 'til you drop" on the train to work this morning. Such a lovely feel in songs like this one. I wish I knew how to get that relaxed yet funky feel.

Good man Newman wink

WOW AIMEE!

According to Wiki, "Il faut du temps (je me battrai pour ça)" (English translation: "It takes time (I will fight for that)") was the French entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, performed in French by Sandrine François. The song was co-written by French singer Patrick Bruel.

The song was performed seventeenth on the night, following Belgium's Sergio & The Ladies with "Sister" and preceding Germany's Corinna May with "I Can't Live Without Music". At the close of voting, it had received 104 points, placing 5th in a field of 24. The full song was nearly four minutes long, but was shortened to abide by Eurovision rules.

The song is a power ballad, with François explaining that everything good in life takes time and that she is prepared to fight to achieve her goals.

The English version of the song is called "After The Rain".

I gotta go to work, will be back later smile

Oh God! Wayne, you survived really huge storms. I'm eagerly waiting and wishing for some good news from Rossy. You're quite right Wayne, we all should've stayed with Rossy during his hard time. But as it's impossible to be physically present there, we must be here.
Recently, I also got some annoying 'stuff' (fever, headache etc.) which pulled me away for past few days. Anyway, I'm always here.
BTW, Wayne, I think I can manage metamorphosis 1. But it may take some time for me, as I'm just a beginner with no teacher. I just started 5-6 months ago. Currently I'm working on playing a piece by ear - not for the sake of ear training - that goddamn piece has no sheet music available anywhere and I've fallen in serious love with it laugh I'm almost finished with it and thought I'd submit it to this month's ABF Recital. But quite unfortunately, the 'stuff' caught me and laid me down for a week frown I've already tried metamorphosis 1 loosely and I'm loving it. Once I'm done with my former love I'll jump on it grin
Here is some cool Jap music for you smile I found it in a cheap Chinese ipod. Nevertheless, I loved and still love it (the music, don't confuse with the girls in the video grin ) a lot.

Wayne, you are right. We should be checking in more regularly. I had no idea what you've been going through all these months. Geez! At least I provided you with a few laughs, even though it was at my expense wink

Anyway, there are a few things I've been listening to lately that I'll share today. Ever since Recaredo started posting Flamenco, I've been exploring more on my own. Here is something by Iranian guitarist, Armik.

Andalusian Nights
