Aren't White Pianos proof that Elvis is still alive???

My piano is white. Absolutely love the finish - I can go for months without dusting it and if I didn't purposely run my fingers over it to see if there was any dust on it - maybe I could get by with once a year. smile

I have a white piano and love it! I rarely have to dust it off - I never notice any dust on it compared to my black digital piano and it looks so sleek in my living room. I've had it for 15 years and is still in amazing condition, and the finish is gorgeous in my opinion. It makes the space look larger and fits in aesthetically. Would massively reccommend!

So.... maybe white is more desirable than ANY other finish. wink

So, white is like a blank canvas.

Interesting! thumb

Double ouch!

I've softened my view on white grands. I can see where they'd look ok in the right sort of design aesthetic. That said, I'd prefer cream or alabaster to a glaring washing machine white. thumb

It’s because none of us can resist commenting on white pianos! Including me. whome

I too have softened my view of white pianos, and in the right space, they can be quite nice. (As long as it’s not my space… whome

I like to think that I am a serious musician so I have to have a piano with a serious color....black. I do like the look of some of the available veneers. I did visit the fletch room at the Steinway factory where there are many veneers to choose from for a custom piano. The problem with having a custom piano built is that no matter how that particular piano turns out, it's yours. No chance to compare to other new pianos and choose the one you like best.

I have seen a few red pianos that I loved! Wasn't there a cherry red (like, corvette color) Yamaha G2 that was owned by Elton John for sale? Or am I mixing up some pianos with the recent Freddie Mercury piano?

Again, the decor of the room that it's in is the key.

I have not read most of this thread. But I think saying that a serious pianist would not by a white piano(which I'm guessing is what this thread is discussing) is wrong. Must a serious musician only have a black piano? Or are some wood tone pianos OK as long as they're not too fancy? Is bubinga or pyramid mahogany inappropriate for a serious musician? How about fancy artcases? Where is the line between what a serious pianist buys vs. a less than serious pianist?

A piano is a musical instrument AND a piece of furniture. Having a certain taste in furniture does not say anything about one's ability or level of seriousness as a pianist.

I think if white or pyramid mahogany or art case pianos were the same price as black pianos they would be seen with greater frequency in homes although black would still be the most popular.

I said that I have to have a black piano. I never intended to say that everyone should think this way, it's just my way of thinking about it.

I have no argument with that. My post wasn't intended as a reply to your post in particular but more as a general comment about what I assume is some prejudice against white piano from some of the posters on this thread. I haven't read more than a few posts on this long thread but know how discussion of white pianos often goes.

Please let us remember that most of this thread is over 10 years old.

A white piano would not work well in my space, but I think there are certainly spaces where a white piano would fit in nicely.

That looks really nice TheophilusCarter,
Is that piano yours? It goes remarkably well in that little room!

I have always disliked white pianos, however I saw a very nice upright recently, for a brief few minutes I thought "well perhaps
perhaps white pianos are not that bad" So yes if it played and sounded beautiful I probably could live happily with a white piano..

I once saw a red Hailun grand. It actually looked rather fashionable!

For the right genres, a white piano could work. I could see Liberace at a white Baldwin with rhinestone trim.
