Sorry 10, I don't know. I didn't learn Embraceable You as I spent literally months learning Moose the Mooche and Perhaps.

What a beautiful song. When I finally finish JOI, I won't really have finished it. I plan to go back to the solos I've missed out. Not to mention that I will still be on the Hanons and of course I will give the JOI Solo Patterns another try.

Thanks knotty, I'm really not sure which recording it is. Will try and find out. Sounds like Miles. it is a pretty song, I know it from the film Catch me if you Can. I recently got the Rod Stewart (not that I'm a fan) album Great American Songbook and have been listening to it in the car to try to catch up on my woeful lack of knowledge of american songs. With this solo, I can hear the tune and how CP references it. Still, the trumpet's far better imo! When we next googleplus I will play the tune so we know which recording i mean. Edit: as far as I can gather, Embraceable you is the Original Charlie Parker Quintet 28/10/47

Cus, Where's that bottle of Champagne? That sounded really good! Really sounded like you were in control of those changes.
Now I think you can stay with a given tune for 3 or 4 weeks, until you've digested the changes very well, and then move on to another one.

So how does it feel to improvise?
:)))))
Let it flow, let it grow, let it go, let it blow, let it glow

Dave and Knotty I will think of you when I buy the Bollinger, thanks so much for enabling me to reach this stage. Even though it was hard to keep up with the changes for 32 bars, it was really fun. When I listened back to one of my D7b5 phrases ending on the D min 7, I thought it sounded cool and I was like "how did I create that ? " Yesterday I was thinking how much I love tunes, how much I love JOI and how much I love jazz.
I did that one without the Real Book in front of me. I will now try to play it faster so it sounds less like a dirge. I can also play the head in F maj badly and will now try to learn it in G maj.
10 Thanks for your kind words too. No doubt you will improv on tunes. You started off on a higher base than my virtually negligble one. I didn't know what blues was nor what a relative minor was, let alone how to swing. I look back at the Eb major one-scale improv that I subjected Knotty to, I think 5 times, and laugh.

you've reached enlightenment Custard Apple! Me and Knotty are seeing Keith Jarrett play solo in Carnegie Hall in January.

How's everyone? Custard, you still on your cloud? I finally recorded today for the ABF recital, so with that out of the way, will hopefully spend more time on JOI. I've been doing a lot of noodling with majors and minors. I should record and share.

me and Knotty sitting front row 3 feet in front of Keith Jarrett on Jan 25th for a solo Carnegie Hall concert. I hope Knotty doesn't cough, it could stop the whole show.

Hi Dave Now you are REALLY trying to rub it into me. How come you always get front row at these KJ concerts ? If Knotty coughs, he will point to you. Hi 10 What did you record for the ABF ? One of your nice arrangements ? For Take the A train, I'm trying to go a notch faster every few days, it's difficult to think faster when I'm improvising. But it's a great way to consolidate the changes.

I go to Carnegie Hall box office the day they put the ticket on sale a bit before they open. It's just a few blox from my pad.
