That's a very classy key and presentation box. Shigeru Kawai appear to be most attentive to detail with their product.

Congratulations again!

Robert.

Zerox61, that must have been very scary.

Is that your piano I can hear on 5'25" and 5'29" ? If so I suppose they also didn't secure the action ?

Amazing piano! Congratulations.

The Kawai (and Yamaha) dealers in my location always fully wrap a piano during a move. The last thing they do is unwrap at the very end.

This move was not professional at all! Luckily nothing wrong happened.

Thanks to all of you for the comments about the mover. If I need my piano moved, I'll definitely definitely look for other movers. I'll talk to my dealer about this when we have contact again. So glad it got in my room in the condition it is in.

and no, the action was not locked. I was expecting that the action would be removed and then slotted back in after the piano is in position.

Wow, zerox61!! Congratulations!! Do post a recording some time. Love the gold key, too. My Kawai only has a silver one. :-(

Welcome to club, you will be amazed how responsive this piano is.
The best touch I have ever experienced in my whole life. Sound is like a dream and competes with Boesendorfer. I'm so happy for you enjoy every second. BTW tomorrow I'm scheduled for MPA visit, I will post the result.

cool, yeah please do tell the story after the MPA visits.

What is the time difference between the piano delivered to your home and the MPA visit? they say 12 months so I think it could be any time within this time frame.

Hello Shahram,
You piano has had a good time to settle. What did he do and what improvements do you notice with the piano?

Thank you,

Robert.

Yes!! whome An awesome piano! I love the Shigeru SK7. It's the ultimate Kawai with the amazing M3 action. In my opinion there are other brands of piano that would find it VERY hard to better this magnificent Shigeru Kawai! I can say many positive things about this piano from my own auditions of it, but it would take an essay!

My next piano for sure! (when and if I can afford it or win the lottery)

Congratulations on your purchase!

Those piano movers are SHOCKING! Fancy treating such a valuable instrument like that. The piano should have been wheeled in with more care, it should have been wrapped in some sort of non slippery covering before being hoisted into the air, and I would agree that the action should have been removed. Now I highly recommend that the regulation be thoroughly checked, as I have have had experience with my RX 6 grand being stored on its side before being purchased, causing the action to go "out" of regulation.

My experience of the delivery was a touch scary too. The Big RX6 wobbled as it came down the hoist at the back of the truck AND they nearly lost it as it was wheeled into my hallway!

Once I saw those goons bring out the crane and start strapping the thing in (WITHOUT any padding) I had to stop the video to to the cringe factor.
I've seen crappy old spinets moved with more care than those guys used on that extremely nice and expensive piano.

Inform your dealer.

Maybe Australia simply doesn't have the piano volume to have good movers out there but I find that hard to believe.

Those guys were goons.

The piano volume here is quite low, particularly with prestige pianos. These aren't the only movers which are cowboys. My piano was delivered 2 years ago. 4 months later, I contracted the same specialist piano movers - it was in their name - to shift to my new house. Soon after arriving, one of them exclaimed "Who put these legs on". I informed him that it was his company. Why? Because he couldn't undo the bolts on one of the legs. Then they decided to shift it with the leg still attached.

I won't be using them again.

I had the same reaction. Quite frankly, I've never seen "professional" piano movers do anything like this. Absolutely appalling !! sick

Congratulations OP for the new piano, you must be absolutely delighted. The process is very well documented, thanks for this!

But that movers, I wouldn't have accepted that kind of handling for any of my gadgets / equipments / furniture. In my opinion, you may report this to Kawai, with the link.

If you report this to Kawai in Japan with pictures...they will have an immediate heart attack...and they will probably contact the dealer/distributor within 24 hours...

Well the moral of the story for me will be making sure I have padding on my Shigeru when it arrives or I will send them packing back to the dealer.

Thanks for all the concerns.

I also believe that the move could have been a lot better to avoid damage to the piano. Nothing bad has actually happened though. I'm sure Kawai would not be happy to see their pianos treated like this either.

However, no irreversible damage has been done on the piano, the MPA will be here in a few weeks to check the action/regulation too.

Actually, I honestly think the padding is not absolutely required (maybe I haven't seen enough piano moving horror stories), if the piano fell off the crane, that would be 10000 times worse...

on another note, the piano is amazing! been playing pretty much everyday since I bought it =)
