According to Kawai Australia, the CA 65 & CA 95 have just been released in Oz and will be in dealers this week. No details or prices on Kawai Australia site yet, but Kawai France have model details:

http://www.kawaifr.com/zrecherchete...=13&ooof_Marque=5&ooof_idSerie=3

It looks like extra sensor and 256 note polyphony, and "Harmonic Imaging XL"

U.K.
256 note polyphony is just a gimmick - 64 is probably enough for almost all purposes - but the other features may be interesting.

A third sensor is a good feature as well as the Harmonic Imaging XL. It will be interesting if there's audible looping with this.

Haha, they were removed from the webpage. But if I read correctly, both the CA65 and CA95 have the 3rd sensor + escapement. Then the only significant difference between the two models would be the soundboard for CA95.

Wouldn't you know this would happen when James is in India and can't comment.

I guess it was pretty much a given that once Kawai came out with 3 sensor tech they would be moving it into their other lines--it wouldn't make sense to confine it to the ES7. I guess we'll see soon when they announce these for real. I also wonder if they will be upgrading their MP line...

I also can't wait to get my ears on this next generation of sounds.

Yeah, seriously, in this day and age why looping is still so prevalent on high end products beggars belief. Put a couple of hundred on the price and be done with it.

I just spoke with my nearest Kawai dealer and he tells me that the CA65 & CA95 probably won't be available in the US until after NAMM 2013....most likely March or April at the earliest. Damn, how I hate these long waiting times for new DPs to be released! But then, I my be able to score a super deal on a CA63 or CA93 in the meantime.... wink

Thanks for finding that out for us.

I really don't understand why these companies don't just market all their pianos in all countries at the same time. March/April is a really long time away. And there are some models Kawai just never brings to the US. Actually, Kawai is the usual offender. Someone over there needs a stern talking to.

Well, we are still waiting for the NU1 from Yamaha that came out eons ago. Too bad the digital piano market isn't as competetive and innovative as, say digital cameras or other computer stuff.

Kawai America is one of the few Kawai subs that seemingly want to market most of their products almost exclusively in traditional piano stores even their entry level items.

It seems quite backwards when you discover how bad their distribution network is in NA (compared to competitors) and look at how they market their goods around the rest of the world. I don't think they view it as a big problem though.

You've raised some very valid points, gvfarns and I'm in full agreement. I've never understood the logic (or lack thereof) with Kawai's marketing strategy, especially given the fact that they produce some of the best digital pianos that money can buy in terms of both sound and action-feel (with the exception of the Yamaha AvantGrand, which is in a league of its own) and could give Yamaha and Roland a serious run for their money if they would only move forward to the 21st century. If only I had a dollar for every complaint I've read on this forum about Kawai's pre-Internet Age attitude regarding the marketing of their products, I could probably afford a Bosendorfer Imperial.... laugh

By the way, my reason for calling my Kawai dealer today was to inquire about the new ES7 as I'm very intrigued by this instrument and want to get my hands on one to test-play before making a decision as to what I'm going to ultimately purchase for a DP. Of course, they don't have them in stock yet and mentioned that it would be at least a month before they have one on the showroom floor to try. When I asked, "Why the delay?", the dealer's response was, "Because we have some ES6s to unload before we bring in the new model".... mad
