Hello All.
I'm new here and I'd like to thank those who have sent me welcome messages.Very kind of you all.
I joined this forum with an ulterior motive.I don't play any instrument - guitar lessons where abandoned after one college course, I'm afraid.
But...when I was in the infants over 40 years ago,we sang a song that the teacher played piano to.It's about a kid lieing in bed with Rover, the dog and the kid is scared of the noises he can hear outside his bedroom door, but he's reassurred by Rover because 'he'll know when to bark!'
Its played and sang very softly until the 'bark' bit when it becomes loud and the keys crash down.
I've been searching for it for years to no avail.I've tracked down former school teachers, sunday school teachers and have even been in music shops and sang it! I was running out of ideas when I thought of music teachers forums. And I came across this one.
Any pointers in the right direction would be welcome.

Thanks, Janet.

Alas,it seems, my search goes on...

Looks like I may have chose the wrong board to post this in. Can anyone give me a pointer on where would be best?

Thanks to all those who have taken the time to view it,too.

Janet.

Hi, Janet -

Sorry you're search hasn't found the song for you yet.

You might try the Teachers Forum here at PW - you can find it from the main forums list (the button in the upper left of your screen will take you to the main forums list). There are several teachers there who teach children who are in general music-oriented classes before they start piano, and perhaps they will recognize this.

Good luck! It sounds like a funny song that children would for sure remember.

Hello Cathy,
and thank you for your reply.

I'd love even to find the words to it, as the tune is still in my head - as far as I recall it, anyway! And any recording of either tune only or tune + lyrics would be fantastic.

Cheers.

Janet.
