Has anyone bought this for Kindle ... and do the musical examples show up well enough?

I was referring to the Jazz Piano Book.

Edit - This added later.

I own an Android tablet and Amazon won't let me download the free Kindle \ Android app to it because my credit card does not have an American address associated with it. I'm now waiting for Visa to respond to my e-mail because in the past I added my brother's address (US) as a second address to my billing address for situations just like this.

I have found the Kindle format of this book very usable. Particularly helpful is that any reference in the text to a figure/illustration/example is linked to that figure/etc. It works especially well on the iPad.

kippesc, my concern was the readability of the musical examples. I have the 2nd generation Kindle.

So, to be clear, you have the book in question on your Kindle and the musical examples appear just fine on the Kindle's screen?

I also have an 11" tablet but have not been able so far to get Amazon to send me the free Kindle Android app. I know for a fact the tablet would look great for the notation.

(My Android table does not have a phone number associated with it, I just use wifi and Amazon won't send me that free app. I've sent them an e-mail and am waiting for a response. It appears you must have a US address or a US phone though I managed to circumvent that for buying books directly from my Kindle. My concern now is for the Kindle only.)

Update - I managed to install this Kindle app for my Android tablet and can now read all my books on both the Kindle and this tablet. I know the resolution and color screen of the 11"tablet now make my initial question moot.

If anyone has this book, I'd like to hear from you just the same.

I've not noticed any problem with reading the book with a circa April 2011 Kindle. It is easier to navigate the book with an iPad, but I suppose that's an obvious point.

I took a look at the Kindle version of that book at Amazon and a few little labeling errors bothered me.

http://www.amazon.com/Jazz-Piano-Book-Mark-Levine/dp/0961470151#reader_B004KA9UWU

Amazon had a number of pages for us to view and I took a look at Chapter 1. He gives examples of Intervals of Selected Tunes ... and shows a G7b9 using a G# instead of an Ab ... with the resolution of the G# going to a G in the next measure without having a natural sign surrounded by brackets. Had he used an Ab which he should have used, the resolution would have looked better for several reasons.

The next example shows a F7b9 using an F# as the 'b9' instead of a Gb. Those sorts of errors really bother me especially since this was the first chapter.

I realize we have to make decisions where we know what it should be but write what is easier for the musician to read. These 'errors' appear in the very beginning on chords where this shouldn't be an issue.

Is the entire book like this? This was my introduction to that book and gives me pause. Should I still order this?

I don't think this is what the book is about. This book is very well written. The notation errors should not affect what you get out of it at all.

I think it's done that way to make the major triads in the voicings (E and D respectively) stand out. You could argue that he should have saved that for the chapter about upper structure chords, I guess. I skimmed through a few more pages, and everything looks just fine.

It's very readable on the iPad.
