I'm learning the 1st movement of Prokofiev's 3rd Concerto for a competition and was wondering if you guys knew what the best, most recent two-piano edition to order is?

I have two friends that used this exact book. I don't know exactly which is the best edition, but since Prokofiev is 20th century, I wonder how many editors would really mess with what he wrote. (Of course, I might be surprised.)

I am not the BEST person to talk to about this, I just happened to remember which book my friends used for this concerto.

Oh, and make sure you have a darn good 2nd pianist. This one has a busy reduction.

Boosey is pretty much it since they have the copyright. There may be some other old editions or European editions around somewhere, but none are better.

If you find it, I'd avoid International. No difference in notes from Boosey, but it doesn't like to stay open.

And yes, get a good accompanist, preferably one who's played it before. It's a bear!

I was lucky enough to hear HaeSun Paik
http://harttweb.hartford.edu/faculty/instrumental/guitarharpkeyboard/paik.aspx

give a master class on this concerto where she played the 2nd piano part(having no idea ahead of time what the student was going to play). I think I spent most of the time listening to her playing and not the student.
