I understand that this is generally thought of as the "classical forum" and that all non-classical music and discussion should be held in the non-classical forum on the site -- BUT I really wanted to share this with all of you because this is highly virtuosic yet very musical and if you love good music, you'll love this piano solo.

I love the quick runs -- and the theme that starts at 1:34 gets me every time.

Enjoy

Yeah, Oscar Peterson is a genius. He sometimes played too many notes for his own good! One of my favorite vids:

Oscar Peterson is fantastic-- I think you'll find that a lot of the classical community holds him in high regard. If there is occasional disdain for some non-classical musicians (whose fame, one perhaps feels, is not justified by their merits), it is not directed at the likes of him.

On another note, can you please reconsider the punctuation and capitalization in this thread topic? That's the saddest semicolon I've seen in a while. smile

This guy has some amazing chops, too, in the boogie realm. It's too bad that the video quality is so bad, but it gives you a taste of his technique. There are some other videos of his on YouTube, but I found the camera work really annoying. Lots of cutting back and forth. I almost got motion sickness!

Oscar Peterson was a gift from the cosmos to us. So cool to have been around to experience it. smile
