Because in previous recitals, if I made a mistake, it would throw me off so much that the recording would be ruined. I think I'm finally learning how to "play through" my mistakes!

Glad you're in MaryBee! Personally I think it is 100% acceptable to merge 3 files for 3 short pieces - I don't consider that "editing" - What I consider editing is clipping out errors or splicing together "patches" of 1 piece.

What we're going to hear is still an honest version of you playing.

Congrats on learning to play through the mistakes.
In our recitals you can keep recording as long as you want, but in real life you have to just keep on rolling!
It is something my teacher really works at instilling in her students and I really noticed the difference between her students and others last year at the recital. Not one of us had a train wreck, but the others, unfortunately, did.

Seems the German umlaut ist not correctly displayed. Is it ok in my signature?

Edit: Edited the composer name in the recital entry list

I found that Für Elise had the same problem so I changed the recital entry to plain Fur.

Matter of taste of course. The pieces I play are very short and simple and to play the correct notes is the least I want to do.

If one plays one's recital piece perfectly, then many will be suspicious that the performance was manufactured and not played live while recorded.

At least this is what I like to tell myself while trying to record. smile

I usually allow one blatant error or a few minor flubs before I christen it as "perfection". grin

Learning to play since June 2009.

Well, I started in at N. 30 and now I'm at 28. Go figure.

I'm feeling a bit chuffed as I figured out how to make a little video of pics to go with my music smile I've never done that before.

Looks like we have a very nice line up --- I'm counting down to "tune-in time" !

After spending all of last weekend and the free time after work, I've managed to record an okay attempt at the Chopin Waltz in A minor that doesn't have so many mistakes in it and is somewhat listenable. I still think I can do better than this, and I nearly did at one point except my recorder ran out of space halfway!

It seems this time around, nerves is the least of my worries when recording as the piece is so long and repetitive that it's more an exercise in trying to remember what comes next and trying not to lose my spot.

Tomorrow I'll do more practice and recording after work to see if i can manage a better recording before I have to leave for a wedding as it's my last free evening to practice and record before I leave for a wedding in Melbourne.

Anyways, at least I have something to submit if all goes wrong with my recording tomorrow. smile

Gawsh, the list is looking impressive. I'm embarrassed about my short little newbie piece that I've practiced to death to make it sound "okay".

...it always sounds better in my head than recorded, but even in my head it's nothing like the pieces on the recital list!

Is there a bottom limit of what y'all can tolerate? blush

LizAnne, we have had people submit recordings to the recital when they had only been playing two weeks. And, no, that's not a typo. smokin

I'm just back from a holiday trip. I asked Inlanding to post my recital piece and that's what he did with great success as I noticed when I returned from my trip! He posted his own contribution shortly after he posted mine, but that apparently was enough to get a 7 place difference. It must have been really busy the first minutes! Again, thanks Inlanding!

I'm not sure how polished mine will be. I've had a minor injury from work (just overstressed my hand) and some major personal issues this week. Should I try to just submit it next week anyways and get as much practice in as I can in the meantime or just wait for the next time?

Maybe I should ask him to post mine. I failed in my attempt to do it myself last time. I had given up and had already posted it in the Bar when I was astounded to see it on the recital line-up on the 15th. Monica had been kind enough to create an mp3 from my youtube video in the 11th hour.

Happy retirement, Monica! I'm looking forward to reading your novel.
