After empirical experience that no digital pianos can substitute yet a real grand and since I have always wanted one I put order on Weber W157 grand piano. I was considering kawai GM10, GM12, yamaha GB1 and samick SIG54 but you pay too much for a label in case kawai and yamaha plus their entry level grands as many stated here are not so good. Regarding Samick I couldn't get it anywhere in near future. Anyway I got also good deal with my local dealer that if I don't like it during 2 weeks I can exchange for something else or something bigger. I have found on this site some ratings and Weber stands pretty good http://thepianoreview.com/piano-ratings.html I hope I'll like it, anybody here has this model to comment?

That "review" website has been discussed here before. It should not be taken seriously. It was created by a dealer (now out of business) in order to promote certain brands that they carried

Congratulations, Piano Shark!

I hope you enjoy your new baby grand piano for many years to come!

I think we can get bogged down with information overload as well as misinformation overload when it comes to shopping for pianos... you shopped, searched, researched, thought about it and made a decision that felt good inside of you. Good for you!! smile

Congratulations on your new piano! How exciting for you! How soon do you get delivery?

I too have tried many digitals and though the upper end ones are fine instruments I agree with you they simply can't give you the same type of feeling an acoustic can. Not that digitals don't have a place in a music room (I mostly use mine for night practice!) but the acoustic feels alive under your fingers and sounds amazing!

Great news Piano Shark!!

You did your homework and ended getting your best choice.

It must be thrilling to get a new piano across your door.

Something that I will hardly ever feel.

I own a 4th generation piano in my family. For me, changing pianos is not an option, and I don't have space for a second one.

I wish you lots of years of great playing in your new piano.

Congratulations on your new piano purchase. Don't forget to take pictures of it while it's being delivered. Hopefully your camera has an "anti-shake" lens. laugh The excitement of a piano delivery can hamper your photographic skill.

I wish you many happy years and beautiful music with your new baby grand!

Just got information from seller they have very good priced W185
if I don't want to spend a little bit more (~2k$) and this model could be delivered faster.
What do guys you think? is it worthy, W185 i kinda big... I have a space for it though.

See how it sounds first (basically, go play it smile ). It's a considerable difference in size, and maybe sound too. Best~

You should try it and make sure you like the W185 more, but if it is just $2000 more, I would consider it. Much bigger piano and usually better tone with most brands.

I would say ALWAYS go with the larger piano.
Especially if you've got the space for it, no question.

I know that if I would have settled for the Hailun 178 that I was originally going to buy (instead of the 198 that I ended up getting) I would have regretted it.
(Heck I am almost regretting not getting the 218, but I simply couldn't afford it).

I've yet to find someone who has regretted buying a larger piano but plenty of people wish they had gone larger.

Paying only $2000 for an extra foot of piano is practically nothing.
But the improvement in sound I would think would be very significant.

The final price for W185 will be even better, 8400$ which I think is pretty good and I'll accept.
Let it be U hope my hardwood floor withstand a 680lb weight...

There are over a million grand pianos in homes all across North America, whose floors have not collapsed under the weight.

Why would your home be any different?

Relax.

You did well.

So are you ordering a piano you didn't actually try and have prepped at a dealer, or a floor model? That can make a pretty big difference with these entry-level instruments.

No way to try it in my local area...It's a very good price I believe and I've read about weber a lot so I can take chances.

One concern yet about this 6'2" one I have is loudness of such big instrument in my living room, isn't going to be too loud in ~870 square feet?

I wouldn't worry too much about the volume/loudness... you can always play it with the lid closed or have it voiced down.

Congratulations again on your new piano!

Congratulations piano shark!

I thought that the smaller model on the video had a very nice clear, singing tone and I am sure that the larger model will be even more exciting, especially in the bass register.

By all reports they seem to be great value for money.

All the very best for years of enjoyment with your soon-to-arrive piano.

Regards,

Robert.

Nothing like playing your piano at 3:00 in the morning! Sometimes I have insomnia and playing my pianos is better than sleep... smile

Until someone else who knows with 100% certainty for your model chimes in, it's my understanding that only some of the redesigns are in production, and the whole line has not been redesigned. I believe one way to tell one of Del's designs would be the absence of cantilevered bass bridges.

Have you played any of Mr. Fandrich's piano designs in person before? Is there a particular characteristic you're looking for? It's damn near impossible to tell anything about the sound of these pianos based on crappy camcorder mics, badly placed, software compressed, etc.

If you're someone who plays well or has picky expectations about the performance of the piano let me reiterate your method of handling this purchase is not the wisest approach, IMO.
