I didn't read through the details, but.....if I have the gist, it makes me wonder why more people don't follow the approach that I use, which is not to do PM at all.

Or at least, not to even look at PM's from people who've been doing bad like that. I mean, don't you just delete spam e-mails without even opening them? So why not with PM's?

Anyway: I don't think doing a thread like this is one of the better ways for you to deal with it, except maybe to get suggestions like this about better ways.

Your probably right... How do i delete this? Just edit the original posting?

Frustrating though... The constitution protects freedom of belief and his comments are completely bigoted and prejudiced. If i was Jewish and he attacked me verbally like this, there would be a lawsuit and a hate crime charges.

GG if your listening, pipe down will ya?

Yes -- I'm pretty sure you can edit out whatever you want from that first post. Not to mention the second one too. (Might be good at least to take out the religious thing.) grin

BTW, if you're serious about wanting him to "pipe down," the best way is not to say anything to him at all.

Why post the message, talk about it and then delete it? Show it to the world, or zip it.

I agree.

You wake me up, get me out of bed, ... and then tell me to go back to bed. I'm already awake now ... what's on your mind?

Well opening this thread was a bit of a disappointment.
I was hoping for a bit of appalling language, perhaps an unpleasant image, possibly of someone doing something unsuitable with a Bechstein, or even better, 2 people or a single person and their pet doing something unsuitable on top of a Bechstein!
Failing that I would have been quite happy with a few choice insults ("your piano playing stinks more than Lang-langs unwashed Y fronts" or suchlike) instead what do I find?
.... "deleted"
My time would have been better spent practicing some Hannon

Tease! smile

I accept PMs, and I have had a couple of testy exchanges in the years I have posted here. Nothing worth splashing all over a thread, however!

More generally, anyone who regards PMs as private and personal is beginning from a fallacy. It's certainly more personal than a public post, but if you start from the proposition that what you say in a PM is completely private, you have taken the first five steps down the path of falsehood and despair. Anything you write can be turned into a public document in the right circumstances.

This is also true of an email. And it's even true of a personal letter à la snail mail. For that reason, among others, I have no special fear of PMs. I accept them. The number of petulant complaints or deliberate provocations I have received by PM is vanishingly small, though this post may change that .... grin
