This action is found on the Yamaha S90XS.
Does anyone has experience with it? The S90XS seems to have a very good piano sound.
What is "Balanced Harmer effect"? I see it's also not graded, like the NW. what the difference between the two? Which one is the lighter, and which one is the heavier?
And, do you think the the BHE action is good for piano playing?
Though I assume this action was made particularly for the synth sounds..

Balanced means that the action is the same from top to bottom. Graded means it's heavier on bottom, lighter on top.

Yeah, I got that. But do you have any expeience with this action? Is it good for piano playing? And overall , do the keys feel lighter than CP5/FP7F. or heavy like P155 for example?

You really are not going to get a clear cut answer on that. Generally, some actions are lighter or heavier than others, but in another thread one poster claimed a certain weighted action felt lighter than another weighted action. That was untill they tried the same actions with the pianos turned off....then realised it felt heavier.

I don't think gradedness in itself is a big deal... you might well find boards of each kind you enjoy playing, and boards of each kind you don't. But I think the S90XS is more like the P155 than it is like the CP5.

It's a pretty standard Yamaha weighted keybed, used a lot in the motif etc
It's not as heavy as Yamaha's GH/GHS actions and is very playable.

Have a clear understanding of your preferences and needs, and trial as many keyboards as you can.

For me, I own the S90ES with BHE and it is my go-to and favorite action, having tried all the major keyboards/workstations myself. I also have the MOX 8 with GHS and Nord Piano with Fatar action which to me are not perfect but very usable.
