Okay, so last year, I asked for advice regarding new pieces and you came through in spades! My son loves 20 C music, especially jazz inspired pieces. This year he conquered part of Suite 1922 by Hindemith, a piece neither his teacher nor his adjudicator was familiar with (thank you, PWF). He loved it and will probably play more from the Suite. He also finished the Shostakovitch Piano Concerto No. 1 (yes, it took 2 years, but he did it). He also played Beethoven's Seventh Sonata, 1st movement, Bach Prelude and Fugue in g (WTC 1) and the third movement of Ravel's Sonatine. It is time to pick some new pieces, and I love for him to listen to lots of music to decide what he wants to play.

He and his teacher are both anxious for him to play some Prokofiev. He will likely play another concerto and the festival he plays for has a Baroque, classical, romantic/impressionist, and contemporary component. His teacher is open for him to select as much of his own music as possible. Memory is his biggest stumbling point. He has giant hands. Suggestions of music for him to listen to?

Piano music of Joaquin Rodrigo maybe, for something off the beaten track?

Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Suite op75 I think is good for "first Prokofiev pieces"
For my first Prokofiev piece, I learnt his second piano sonata which wasn't too horrible.

Maybe look into some Liebermann?

Prokofiev:
a selection from the Vision Fugitives. These pieces range quite a bit in level of difficulty.

Thanks everyone! This is terrific! He almost picked selections from "Vision Fugitives" (did I get that name quite right) last year. It may be time to revisit those. Great other suggestions. I have a feeling he will be enjoying playing some new pieces shortly. Keep the suggestions rolling.

Update: He has picked for his romantic piece Chopin Polonaise Op. 26, No. 1 and is trying to decide between the first movements of Beethoven's piano Sonatas No. 4 and No. 12 (two very different pieces). He wants to finish 12, he has played other movements of it, but is waffling. His teacher doesn't want anything too technically challenging for him this year- she wants him to solidify his technique at this level first before killing him with a big jump. And she wants him to spend more time on technique this year. So, Vision Fugitives are looking promising. But he has yet to decide. Thanks for your help.

Update 2: Yup, we went with Vision Fugitives. Not all of them though. Probably just one or two for now due to time constraints.
