I am thinking of selling my Kawai CA-63 (after buying a grand, I just never play it anymore). Bought it a little over a year ago; it's very lightly played and in excellent condition. Would $2,300 be a fair price? I'll be posting the ad here this weekend.

Well, that's a good question. Retail price of the thing seems to swing quite a ways depending on the dealer, circumstances, timing, local demand, etc. I've seen this model sold from near that price point to a few hundred dollars above. I myself paid a little more, but not much more, than $2,300.

So you are looking to make back about 90% of what you paid for it then?

Broken: I am looking to sell it for slightly less than fair market value. :-)

Not sure about the depreciation in your location, but here in UK I just saw one CA63 sold in ebay for £1300ish, which is 65% of the value of a new one.

Is the Kawai warranty transferable to the buyer?

Warranty covers only original purchaser; however, I've had the Kawai tech out and he gave the instrument a thorough going-over. The only issue he found (slight buzzing at a couple of lower frequencies) was easily corrected by tightening a factory screw :-).
