One more comment for Baconbits:
On the Vienna website, all your demos use the term "programmed by" not "performed by".
Maybe using the term "programmed" here would have been more clear. Who the heck is Baconbits? Do you know my name?

Wow. This thread is STILL going on? I honestly lost interest after hearing the first bit of 10/1, but some here are like a dog with a bone and I suppose I shouldn't be surprised considering a few of the sources. It's not a live recording, ok? The guy has admitted to it, ok? If this were an audition where someone had presented a "fake" recording for their preliminary and then were found out once they arrived in person the jury would simply have a few words for them, dismiss them and show them the door. They wouldn't chase them down the hall screaming "FAKER!!!!!!" "You duped us!!!!!!", etc., etc.

wr,
why don't you express you OWN opinion instead of just putting a +1, which is more giving the impression you want to team up with someone? If you were more familiar with this forum, rather than just being an occasional spammer, you'd know that the "+1" doesn't mean what you seem to think it does. +1 means the same thing on all forums. In that case, you must be unaware of the meaning. Because here, in the way I used it and how it is most often used, it simply signifies agreement and approval, rather than "teaming up" with someone. You think I don't know that. Thank you for the +1 101 lesson here. But since it seems I need to explain, I was just making a point that I think it's better for people to express themselves, especially in these kind of stormy threads where when you put +1 it's like teaming up, and there's been enough teaming up on this thread. Let's try and say things in our own words. Fail. You either didn't know that "teaming up" wasn't the intent of my "+1", or if you did, you deliberately misread it. At any rate, how I express myself here isn't up to you, and if I want to give a simple "+1" to a post that expresses something that I was thinking, I will.

With a reply like that i'm guessing you're a teenager. I've probably been on forums longer than you have, this isn't the only forum. Everybody knows +1.

It is a little surprising to me that the mods didn't lock this thread on that account soon after it appeared, but they don't constantly monitor everything that goes one here. Of course, you weren't exactly straightforward about what you were up to, either.

While we're at it.... I wonder if Damon or anyone can explain, what exactly is "sequences"? How are they related (or not) to MIDI? And, as a bonus question.... ....if this won't already be evident from just explaining what sequences are, why is the word "sequence" used for it? What's like a sequence about it? It's a sequence of notes. An engineer probably named it on the first synthesizer that sported one. The first sequencers were used with monophonic synthesizers and were pretty limited in how many notes they would 'remember'. Sequencers pre-date midi.

The first sequencers were used with monophonic synthesizers and were pretty limited in how many notes they would 'remember'. Sequencers pre-date midi. Yeah....obviously a side issue but perhaps ultimately more interesting than the original one. Anyway....'regular' music is sequences of notes too. Lots of things are sequences of something; sentences are sequences of words, words are sequences of letters. Etc. etc. So, it seems to still leave the question of why this thing would have gotten the term; I don't see that it's uniquely sequences or even particularly especially sequences, compared to anything else. No need to answer further (need I say) ....and like many other things, like even why the note C is called C (as per another thread), it may be hard to answer, or maybe even have no answer. After all, many things are just arbitrary. BTW thanks for helping me to learn about it -- as well as for helping to reveal what was going on in the posted recordings.

Thanks synergy, that was quite interesting. I actually remember seeing this when it first aired. I love it when he says to his page turner: "My fingers are good hey!" Also later, which is not seen in this video, he keeps asking people if they like his tie. "You like my playing but not my tie?"

Also later, which is not seen in this video, he keeps asking people if they like his tie. "You like my playing but not my tie?" Yes, and in "Horowitz, The Last Romatic", he's goofing around with these improvisations on the piano and turns and smiles at the camera, and his wife is next to him admonishing him to "stop that!". He's a very playful and personable character, it really comes through in his music. Did you hear something? It was kind of a funny noise....like a rat scratching on a thread or something. Oh well...

Seems like a pretty elaborate and labored form of disdain, when all you have to do is turn on the "Ignore User" feature for a user if you don't want to see and read their posts.

Wr, you have to have a playful spirit. See, these virtual instruments are so much fun, you feel like a kid in a toy store. No more of that "stoogy attitude"...no sir..eee. Occasionally you do get little glitches and noises but they're easily dealt with. Watch some of the best pianist on youtube and you'll see they're having great fun. Not hung up wagging their fingers or being haters.
