Dear Friends:

The American Fine Arts Festival (AFAF), now in its 9th season, is gearing up for 2012 and would like wish everyone a Happy New Year and extend all music teachers and piano students a warm invitation to our upcoming series of competition events.

As you may know, the AFAF holds in-person auditions for our regular season program in the following states:
Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, California, Connecticut as well as in Washington, DC.

We invite students who are not able to audition in person to submit a hi-fi VHS videocassette or DVD recording of their audition by mail. Winners of our regular season program will play in a recital at one of our performance venues, which this year include the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Yamaha Piano Salon, Dicapo Opera Theatre Concert Hall as well as the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center.

A special prize, instituted this year in collaboration with the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation, will be awarded to exceptional young participants of our regular season festival program and includes a special recital at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as well as a masterclass and a recital in Moscow, Russia.

Application deadlines: February 1, 2012 (for in-person auditions) & March 1, 2012 (for auditions by mail).
Winners’ Concerts: April-June 2012, NYC

In addition to our regular festival program, we also offer several other opportunities for promising piano students to compete on a more selective level.

Of special interest to piano students is our concerto competition, which had a successful debut last season. The competition requires video auditions and winners of this prestigious competition will perform at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City, receive scholarships to our summer program, and have the opportunity to travel to Russia in July 2012 to perform with the Kostroma Symphony Orchestra.

Application deadline: February 20, 2012
