I saw an old Baldwin electronic organ yesterday at the Bazaar in the St Paul skyway. It had a lot of the same buttons, knobs, and stops as my Grandmother's organ that I learned on, just more of them, so I think it's probably from the same era, around 1970. It had a price tag of $234. So naturally, I had to try it out. Started in on Toccata in Dm (mandatory), and it sounded pretty good, until it came time to hit the pedals. Nothing more than a quiet fluttering sound with some sort of semblance of a D came out.
I have a hobby of tinkering with electronics, you think this might be fixable? It's probably moot though, I don't have space for it.

It probably is fixable, and if memory serves me correctly they had a separate internal section for the pedals.

As far as economical feasibility, you definitely want to do the work yourself. And I think the seller would have a really tough time getting that price even if the organ needed no repairs.

These days it's a buyers market for organs, even the ones that traditionally go for some serious money.

Thanks, that's about what I thought.

Are repair manuals or schematics typically available for organs of that vintage?

They are out there, I usually do online searches using the brand and model number. Some you can find for free, some you have to pay for, but they are out there. If you're lucky, maybe it's a flaky tube. That might be the easiest thing to check. I'll bet there are several of most of the tube types used in it. So you can try doing some swapping. If the problem moves from one area to another, you found the problem.
