Anyone knows of Baldwin Baby Grand Digital Piano GPS2500 (also called Baldwin Pianovelle GPS2500)?

Someone is selling it, and told me it's about 3 years old. But I thought GPS2500 is an older model number, which could be older than 3 years? Does digital piano also have serial number, so that I can track the year made? Any insights?

Also, if all function well, is it worthwhile for $2,500?

And is this a good piano for a beginner for myself? Also, in 4-5 years, I'd like my daughter to start learning the piano too. Is it a good instrument to serve the purpose? Anything I should be aware of?

Thanks!!

I've never played a Baldwin digital, but
I'm a great fan of Baldwin acoustic pianos.
You simply can't go wrong with any Baldwin
acoustic; they are solid, competent pianos.
So I would assume that if they put their
name on a digital, that it would be a very
good instrument.

Baldwin seems to have gone in an out of
the digital piano market and has never
made a splash in it. At the present they
may not be making digitals, so that would
be a point in your favor when bargaining:
there's no warranty; would you be able to
get service in the unlikely event that
something went wrong with it (digitals
are designed for durability and reliability
and should last indefinitely, if you
keep liquids away from it, the worst
thing for digitals--my first digital,
a Korg, bought in 1989, is still
in perfect condition)?

This would be around 3 yrs. old, or more.
And that's considered old in the fast
moving digital piano world, although
it would play similar to a brand new digital.
Digitals are essentially a computer
with a keyboard and speakers and so they
are effected by computer pricing--for
example, what would a 3 yr. old pc be worth?

It's a buyer's market with used dp's.
Any piano is difficult to sell because
the number of players in the general
population is small. There's no warranty,
and prices are constantly coming down
with new dp's--I believe you could find
new digital mini-grands for around $2500.
And there's no place the seller can unload
it fast because a piano dealer won't buy
it and a pawn shop would give him almost
nothing for it. The seller is going to
have a hard time moving this at $2500.
I would offer half or less of the asking
price, and the seller should grab for
that, because chances are he won't get
anything better.

I have a pianovelle GPS2500 which had some corruption in the OS. I got an OS disk from generalmusic.us, and it only made things worse. It would not install and then wiped out the existing OS that was installed. I am seeking a good copy of an Operating System disc. If you have any thoughts on the topic, please advise asap, thanks. - craig@easicomputers.net

It's a spambot. Just ignore it, a mod will come and clean it up eventually.
