Many of you know of my friend Steve Kelly's fight with blood cancer. Thanks to those who have contributed $$$ to this fight. I have one more favor to ask. We have decided to auction Steve on E-bay. A successful auction will raise about $35,000, but what we really want to happen is this: I am e-mailing about 50 people. I am asking each of you to e-mail at least 10 people from your address book, and in that e-mail, please include the E-bay link I have pasted below. Please ask your 10 people to, in turn, send to 10 other people, and keep the chain going. The hope is that sooner or later, word of this unusual situation will reach someone with enough clout to make this happen soon for Steve. I'm thinking the Today Show, or Ellen, or Jay Leno, etc. Please help. Thanks, Sam

Thanks Christopher; that's what I am hoping for: someone with connections that can make this happen ASAP. BUT......in the meanwhile, we will get there $5. at a time!

Sam - I also contacted my district sales rep from a famous name brand piano manufacturer to see if there was any way they could help.
Maybe some of the other dealers could do the same. It doesn't hurt to ask, does it?

No, it doesn't. It's a damn shame that we have to resort to this in this country, but that is a subject I may vent on later in the Coffee Room. Steve is the local Steinway tech, and the dealership has been very supportive. I'm going to keep the auction going for 20 days or until we sell out. I hope we attract some attention in that time. I sure appreciate your interest, Christopher.

Our auction is less than 24 hours old and we have sold 22 cubic inches so far, and who knows how many e-mail boxes it is in by now!

Also, it is important to join the bone marrow registry. A donation can literally save a life. I paid for my testing, but sometimes fundraising groups host drives where donations will cover the cost of the testing.
Best of luck to Steve.

Yeah, we found out that the tests are $3,000. Steve says his brother is his best chance for a match; we are all hoping that comes to be.

Sam -
I received an email this morning stating that there was an error in your ebay listing and that the auction was ended.
I will just send a check to you instead. Sorry to hear about the ebay error.

Thanks to all who helped. E-Bay has cancelled this auction; seems I have unknowingly violated one of their policies regarding charitable auctions. Hopefully I can get it straightened out and try again.

Steve says his brother is his best chance for a match; we are all hoping that comes to be. Just to clear something up.....the testing to be a donor is not $3,000. I believe Sam is refering to a test Steve, the recipient needs. Donor testing is less than $100 and as apple said can usually be done for free when sponsored by a local drive. It is one of the greatest things you can do. You can potentially, literally save someone's life. So get out there today and sign up. There aren't enough donors. We need more. Enhance your resume for that meeting with St. Peter.
There are few joys in life greater than the absence of pain.

I actually signed up at a drive for a kid.... one had the option of being tested for free, or footing the bill which a couple, three, years ago was $70.00

John C- thanks for clearing that up about the cost. I obviously wasnt listening carefully when the subject came up at the last PTG meeting.
