Following various suggestions on this forum, my attention is beginning to shift from Ivory II to the Galaxy pianos.

Until now, I thought that one either buys the Galaxy Vintage D, or the "big package": Galaxy II pianos, which contains 3 pianos: Steinway, Imperial Grand, Baby Grand.

But now I see this:

Here, it seems to me the 3 pianos from the big package are available individually, too. Is that right? And is this the latest versions?

Also on the same side, besides the standalone instruments, I see an option called "Upgrade from DE", where I guess DE stands for Download Edition.

Could someone please explain me
- What are the different editions, and what is the difference?
- What is the version history? Is everything sold the latest version, or are the older versions still available? What is the upgrade policy?
- What are the available package combinations?

Thank you for your help:

I think they used to sell a download edition (DE) of Galaxy II that had fewer sampled layers, less bit depth in the sound, etc. but they discontinued it and these are (as far as I understand) now the same as what you would get if you bought the boxed set.

For Vintage D I believe the download edition has always been the same as the boxed version.

Not sure if the download editions are already upgraded, but if you get a boxed set, it's version 1.0. Then when you register it, you can download the update to the current version, 1.2, which also includes an update to Kontakt.

Small version updates appear to be free. Just don't lose your CD key. They will probably charge again when and if they come out with Galaxy III. More likely their next products will be individual instruments similar to Vintage D. Maybe a Fazioli, Yamaha, or another Vintage instrument.
