hi,
i have another quick question about importing midi files into a DAW, if anyone could give me some advice, it would be appreciated.

i use reaper to import midi files that i had recorded with my kawai ca63 digital piano's internal recorder and then to render them with synthogy ivory II. there is a small issue though. when importing the midis, the rendered result is played back slightly faster than the original. it's almost not noticeable, i have to adjust the speed from 120 to around 119.8 to get close to a match. i mostly notice it when i sync video and audio in an editing software, having good sync at the beginning of the piece and then getting desync the more the piece gets to its end.

for solo pieces, this is not a big problem for me at all. but i also made some recordings with the kawai onto which other people recorded other instruments. so when i now want to replace those original kawai piano parts with the new ivory renders, i get desync between the piano and the other instrument. and i am having a very hard time to adjust the speed manually (by resizing the midi event). i just can't get exact 100% match between the old kawai recording and the new ivory render.

so i wanted to ask if anyone knows what the problem could be, and if there is some simple solution for this that i can't see (something like, midi rates, settings etc.). thanks for your time.

The 120bpm to 119.8bpm is only a 0.17% difference. My guess is that the difference is attributable to the CA63 time source accuracy compared to your PC. If you have multiple takes to record, use Reaper and its time base to record the takes. If you have existing separate tracks to combine that have time differences, you should be able to use Reaper to 'fit-to-time' to make the tracks line up. If you were using Sonar, I could tell you how to do it, but I'm not familiar with Reaper.

Good luck.

Regards,
Bob

Why not just record directly into Reaper using IvoryII for the sound?
