Hi. I am an "adult" piano player, having started learning in my mid-40's. I have been working on the first movement of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" and I think I have it down pretty well. That is about my level of playing. I am looking for some recommendations from more experienced pianists for other pieces on this level of difficulty that I would enjoy learning. Thanks for any recommendations.

Try some of the two-part inventions by Bach! Before you play them, notice what the melody is like for the first measure or two, and look the rest of the piece and see how many times you can find a part that is very similar.

Look at "playing the Piano for Pleasure" it is full of good suggestions

Playing the Piano for Pleasure by Charles Cooke

He grades them by difficulty, but all his recommended pieces are very fine.

Reading your way through collections can give you some ideas and point you to some discoveries. There are a couple of fat volumes on the market that are stuffed with some great music for a small investment.

OSK is on-the-money about the Bach Inventions. I'm also going through a Scott Joplin collection and the Grieg Lyric Pieces.

When you find a composer you especially like, it's a good time to start collecting their scores and some good recordings.

After all, how can we choose for you what you like?

I second Orange Soda King.

Some two part inventions would do you good. Also, when I taught lessons more often I loved giving students some Satie once they were able to get through Moonlight level pieces. Really changes it up!

I would recommend Solfeggio by C.P.E. Bach. I don't know if it's on your level but perhaps look at some Chopin Preludes as well. I find just about anything from Chopin very fun to learn.

Currently Working On:
Chopin Waltz in B Minor (Finished)
Rondo Alla Turca - Mozart (Finished)
Coming up:
Phantom of the Opera?
Certainly more Chopin(Valses and Mazurkas, maybe even a Prelude)
And yet another Bach piece

It's a very popular thing, but you might like to look at some Pachelbel fugues. There are some pretty nice ones out there that would be challenging, but not unrealistic.

In the first that says complete, I'm working on the second one right now, it's simple, but if you're not familiar with polyphonic music, it can be challenging, but not overly. There are some tricky ones in there, but if you sift through them, you'll find some pretty easy ones. Personally, find them more fun than Bach inventions, but they're still pretty similar. My vocal teacher heard me playing and thought it was a Bach invention.
Just an idea...
