In Conjunction with Period Piano Center this is an image I took a few years ago documenting pianos. I did drop out the background and add the name of the piano.

I love the shadow and light play on those first two.

I'll figure it out eventually.
Until then you may want to keep a safe distance.

What happened to the Umlaut over the U in Blüthner?

That's a very interesting question, and I would love to know. I have never seen another like that!

Hello David,
I believe you have the 4mm brass inlay style decal. Here is a sample of that one new. It is almost an identical copy of yours without the flares on the sides of the font. As one can see the dots to complete the umlaut are separate from the rest of the decal, so one can elect to use them or not. In your case there, without the dots, could be quite collectable.

Dan,

Collectable, perhaps, but as a German speaker, I don't like the sound of "Bluthner" at all (besides the fact that it's simply spelt wrongly).

"Blüthner" could be translated as "Blossomer", while "Bluthner" would probably best be translated as "Bloodner"...

(Somewhat off-topic:
I see I can no longer comment your photos without joining Google+. Ugh - what an irritation!)

What an interesting picture. Does that piano have trichords in the bass or is it double overstrung?

Larry,

That is an awesome picture. Is that from your trip to Belgium?

This is fun. I have 2 I can add easily. Here is an overhead view of a rosewood three piece rim "Centennial" concert grand piano by Steinway.

The next one is a very bad shot of one of our new Cunningham pianos in our showroom... with Andre Watts discussing a piece he just played on it.
